I really hope WAR rvr will be good - from the video it doesn't look that good

Standard middleware engine with custom "disco lights" on characters is all the game appears to be at the mo.

If not i'll just give up looking for a good mmorpg

I've played Vanguard (the 24gb mmo) and thats impressive, huge world, detailed graphics...however pvp doesn't seem like it'll be much.

I've played WAR in it`s current form and thought it was brilliant if a little slow paced compared to DAoC in the PvE department. Also in reply to whoever else it was go read Sanya's recent interview which clearly states the very same point I just made regarding any similarities to WoW. I'm no WAR fanboy but can clearly see the huge potential and excellent work they've done this far as well as putting that together with their plans for RvR which should make this an awsome game with no equal.

from that vid and the other ones they released it just looks like another generic mmporpg with horribly slow and dry combat system..
Regardless whether you played it or not, most of us have not this discussion is about that video and what it portrays about the game. If that is the video they released, you are 90% likely to have played the same thing/worse version because at the end of the day that is the glorified version of the combat system
From past experience basics such as the combat system are very rarely changed as they are the foundation of the game, i hope im wrong, but i fail to see what is so brilliant about it from the stuff i have read (i dont troll the WAR forums as i dont have that much of a interest in it), let alone have no equal

As for the comment about the playerbase, hate to break it to you, but in the real world there is always bad eggs..
WAR will be no different

I mean, its just another point/target/use ability game, nothing new here :S

Depends, maybe if it would work like dark messiah/rune/severence, but in a game like oblivion it doesnt matter where you hit someone, its all item/skill numerical dependend but you just have to hit/block/aim yourself...


i mean, every normal mmorpg is the same shit over and over, that wasnt bad the second time, or third time, but its all starting to look and feel exactly the same now, with just a minor style difference ;o

IF darkfall ever gets released, theres your answer.
Ofcourse most of the things about it is still speculations, but I belive the devs have confirmed they will have hit boxes in it.

I was really really stoked about WAR when i first heard about it but the more i see the less interested i get.

I really, really didn't enjoy WoW lvl 1-60 and that was supposed to be the good bit. WAR seems to be going down the WoW levelling route with extra PVP and its just not my thing.

I'm going to stick with Age of Conan, i get the impression quest grinding won't be a big part of it but we''ll have to see.

Age of Conan looked good in my opinion, i like the idea of actually swinging your weapon, i get so bored of "press attack then press this spell/style over and over".

but, i dont look forward to any games anymore partly because im losing interest in games in general, and partly because you only end up getting dissapointed when game developers keep pushing back deadlines, and fail to capitalise on their good ideas.

WAR looks rubbish, nothing special at all. I hope they have some amazingly fun system of play or combat otherwise they wont even manage to make it as popular as daoc was.

For the people saying "omg give it a chance its alpha". Go take a look at some alpha videos from other popular/anticipated games out there. They dont look anywhere near as crap as this one did.

And assuming you fanbois are correct, and Mythic have all these tricks up their sleeve in order to turn this collection of shoddy animations and irritating sound effects into an award winning MMO... WHY in gods name would they release this trailer? All its done is put people like me off the game entirely.

This is the time they should be drumming up huge interest, and making people say "wow" at their game. not throwing some half-assed movie together and going "lolz look we made a dorf"

Someone else said it best: Mythic suck at promoting their games. Fire the idiot that made this movie and hire the GOA guy that did the Darkness Rising DAOC trailer a while back.

Correction Most alpha version do look as crap as this one. Didnt u see WoW alpha? or daoc alpha?

Yay I love it when people like you dont play the game!

They have released a basic video that by all accounts is just as bad as other Alpha vids out there.

Its the typical response, if they hadnt released anything you would cry and say fuck them they have shown us nothing. So they give you something basic and you whine like a bitch in heat on a warm summers evening.

Stop whining and when they release something that has a bit more structure and is closer to the final product then express an opinion based on something solid.
