Any geeky types going?

I'm just getting into the Warhammer table top stuff, and its really good fun, and unearths all the geeky tendencies I repressed as a kid!

Me and the fella and a couple of Rigantes going for a bit of a laugh, and to get a good preview at the WAR stuff as well as the table top stuff :)

We'll be there so be sure to come say hi!

There will be nine pc's running a very early alpha version of WAR and we'll be happy to give you a quick tour!

Wow, cool, I look forwards to that :) I knew there would be a computer gaming section, but wasn't sure how much of it would be WAR oriented.

When talking to the slightly over-zealous staff at Games Workshop in Leeds they a) had no idea what WAR was (or a computer tbh - if it doesn't contain dice, how can you play?!?!?!?!), and b) once we explained what it was were very condescending about it. Therefore, I was a little worried that the gamesday would be for purists and not have much WAR stuff. I see my fears were unfounded, and look forwards to meeting fellow geeks :D

Don't you have your own?! ;)

The only downside I can see of the games day, is that its going to be full of sweaty smelly teenage boys :(

Not forgetting tall men in their late 30s with a beer belly and long pony tail and full beard dressed in black called Peter or Graham. You find them in every GW shop lol

Also, I would suggest getting there EARLY as most of the kids (if your into the mini's) get there and its almost impossible to see the showcases / gallery.

Was well impressed last year and this year should be even better.

Naetha, if your after a limited edition / early release model... head there first! We went there about 11am - 1pm and it was almost sold out of pretty much everything :D - one thing you want to check out is the Forgeworld stuff... you cannot afford any of it... but it looks amazing :D

I mean, they arent even made of metal :S

I'll not say they are 'the most' expensive but you can get as good models cheaper (just shop around)
The reason you buy them is by taking the time (and skill) to paint them up and 'showoff' :p
I like the Warhammer and 40K stuff, its real nice... but the prices are a little more than I can afford on a regular basis...

Check this out for price - Tau Aircraft

Warhammer and 40k rock, the minitures are expensive, the best way is to get em off ebay and then repaint them how u want. some play for painting some play for the tactical side.

personally i like to crush my oppoments with my immense tactical skill, im 43wins 1 loss at warhammer. with my empire army

and about 21-0 with my eldar.

if i wasnt in spain ild enter the national tournement

Some bits yer... but you can build cheesy, easy mode armies up which don't require alot of tatics/good rolling to win.

Was very into 40k for a short period of time, I went off of it in a big way though when they made massive changes to all of the rules, after they did that I could never be arsed re-learning everything. Still have a space marine army in a toolbox somewhere :)

DBA > Warhammer for tactical play

But warhammer is fun, shame it's just a huge money making machine these days.

Yeah I went - had a go on WAR for about 5-10 minutes, was really good - very intuitive, with good graphics. More than that I can't really say as I only got from level 1 to level 2, but what I saw I liked :)

Also had a chat with a few of the guys there (I think one of them was Xalin - big blond looking viking type?) who were friendly and useful :)

Best of all, I got a l33t t-shirt of d00m ;)

Did you find WAR had similar graphics / look as WoW? the xp bar / backpack / quickbar was almost a copy / paste...

The GMs seemed real nice as well, very helpful. :worthy:

What did GOA think of it all? (Xalin etc (if your reading this)

Did you buy anything? :)
