Guys, after a little advice.

A couple of months ago I left a company. They owed me a days wage but by accident the paid me a full month. Now, I slapped it in my savings account as I knew they would find out. A few weeks when past and then I got an email from the accounts lady asking about it. Now she said they only owed me half a days wage and she would email how much to give back.

I called her up and said that I want an updated wage slip with the ammount and until I got that and also my P45 I wouldnt be giving it back.

Now, where do I stand on this? I still havent got my updated wage slip and I have only only just got my P45. I got an email this morning from the accounts lady saying "Have you got your p45 are more importantly send the dosh"

Now, I will give the money back but they aint having it all back until I get the updated wage slip!

What to do :(

just email the accounts lady back and CC your old boss and any other main managers, detailing the accounts lady's mistake in overpaying you.

then tel lthem that you will send a chq fir the money when you get an updated wage slip.

most likely the P45 you have includes the overpayment, and the accounts lady doesnt want to do another one.

sending the email to your old boss and any other main boss type people will make sure the accounts lady sends you the correct wage slip and P45

name and shame, its ther only way in these types of situations.

on the other hand, say you cant afford to pay them the full amount as you have spent it and make a payment plan with them.

Spending something that wasn't yours won't wash, however saying it was in your icelandic saving's bank and you need to wait to claim it back might ;)

A company tried this on me. I got some sort of letter threatening to take me to court, then nothing for 6 months (and counting).

So ignore it, it's their problem.
