Best phone ever.

That ain't no shit, neither. Just got it today on contract with O2, as I've finally given up on Orange.

Possibly the best feature of the phone is whilst listening to music, and if you place it on a side. Instead of the music sounding muffly because of the sound trying to travel through something, it switches the speaker for better clarity. That, is fucking genius.

The camera is the best I've seen on an SE phone (T610/30, K500i/700i/750i). Really impressive auto focus, as well as a light. Quite an improvement, as I've always felt SE phones had shite cameras. This is also accentuated with turning the phone on its side, and having the most convenient use of button placement ever. No need for a thin and tacky digital camera for a night out on the piss.

And then there's the small fact the phone comes with a nice Memory Stick Pro Duo, giving a whopping half gig memory.

Yes, I have the horn for a phone. I am sad. :)

Sounds good. But the orange colour of the phone ruins it for me :/ What contract you on?

I'm on O2. £30 a month = 400 free minutes and 200 free texts for the first 6 months. After that, it gets halved.

I just thought it was time to get a contract phone, as I regularly spend £30+ on a Pay As You Go phone a month anyway. So to save some hassle, I decided on a contract. Groovy tbh.

edit:// Trem, I catch you outside my house, and we're gonna fall out.

Out of our clothes, that is. :)

I think I'm about to get the same. Might switched back to their cheaper leisuretime package after 6 months, but I fancy making some daytime calls to see what it's like.

You'd recommend this over the K750 then?

I've got it too and it's great, i could use a larger memory stick though for music i'll have to look into buying one in the near future.

Minor fault i know but when the grey scrolling bar at the top is up and i load the menu, i don't see a white circle around the menu options when selected?

Agree nice camera too, and the photo editing tool seems nice, not had a chance to try the video editing tool yet. Bluetooth doesn't appear as strong as some nokia devices but still good.

Hadn't noticed or read about the speaker function you mentioned, but then i mainly use the headphones.. even if the ones which came with it are a bit.. odd i reckon.

i even accidently threw it at the ground pretty hard once it's not damage so i was pretty impressed and glad about that, although i wouldn't reccomend testing that!

Overall very impressed. Cost me £270 sim free though. Seems a great price for a good digital camera/phone/mp3 player? :D

Edit:

Also i quite like the orange but the white area is not so nice imo .. looked better in the picture when buying but it's still nice :p

I bought the K750i because I didn't want to wait for the W800i and as frizz said, they're basically the same anyway. From what I could see, the only difference between the 2 was the size of the bundled memory stick (32mb/£249 for the K750 and 512mb/£279 for the W800.)

The supplied earphones are a bit shit, the fastport isn't the best idea for regular (un)plugging methinks... First one side went, then the other, now I need to replace them.

Also, the joystick is slowly dying, sometimes it's unresponsive in certain directions.

Other than that, I love it. And I definitely prefer the black/silver of the K750 to the orange/white of the W800.

Except the screen on the k750i is shit, the build quality is awful. The joystick is awful.

Your better of (Trem/Frizz) Cancelling your contract with o2 if you can, return the phone. Buy it from o2online instead. £29.99 for the phone, but your contract is £30 200 minutes/500 texts. Not for 6 months, for good.

I got the texter package off O2 online Ch3t. I think its 75 minutes a month and 300 texts for £17(may got some of that wrong). I rarely talk to people on my phones because people are silly and talk like spastics.

Basically its a way better deal than Orange offered me. This phone has really got to go some to be better than my 6230i, I will use it as an mp3 player as well, one feature on the 6230i that is stupidly annoying to setup(have to make playlists to play more than 1 song in a row etc).

Ch3t, I'll go so far as saying the joystick is a bit shoddy but what's wrong with the screen? Are you saying it's shit next to the W800i (I thought they both used the same screen) or shit generally?

I know they are meant to use the same camera, but the screen on the 750 I played with didnt look as nice as the one on the w800i. The software on the SE's is so shoddy next to nokias that it rules them out straight away, build quality is also really bad on the SE phones. I went from a s700i, which I thought was fantastic, to a 6680, which is even better. Series 60 Nokia's for teh win :)

My mate at work bought a n70 on import, the thing is sex. It's the 6680 but better. Next years new nokias have 2-3mp cameras, and new higher resolution screens. Sod the SE's :)

I had a T610, it had a really shitty OS and always crashed / became slow. Then they announced the K750i which fixed all those bugs -- did it bollocks.

I switched back to Nokia after that. Apparently the W800 and K750i fix all those problems -- I'm not believing that shit again.

Well I have just been told that O2 are out of stock of the w800i so I have just cancelled that order and ordered a Nokia 8800. I thought long and hard about it and I do love my Nokias and their easy menu systems. So I will soon be the owner of a sexual phone with a shite camera.

To update your K750i or w800 goto the sony ericsson web site, you can use the Sony Ericsson Update service (or SEUS) to update your handset with the latest firmware. Doesn't work on all handsets and some providers have locked them, But mine was locked and now o2 have given SE the go ahead to allow the user to update. (how kind of them....)

Has anyone with a W800 tried the "Play Now" feature? I thought i'd give it a go yesterday, it seemed pretty expensive £3 for one track - But hey. Anyway i downloaded the preview, clicked "Buy" It charged me, sent me a message "thank you for your order" also seems to have charged me another £2 for the text message - But no track?

I've seen it,and thought "meh". But that wasn't why I bought the phone. I haven't bothered with it as most of the songs on there are utter toss.

3 quid?? 3 quid for a track? You've got to be kidding. Actually, given all the rootkit shenanigens going on with Sony at the moment, I wouldn't download anything from those ***** right now.

My K700i is on the floor and is used as my alarm clock. I made a techno tune with the music dj thing -- nothing will get you up out of bed to shut it up faster.

You don't need to uninstall SP2 to get the bluetooth drivers to work.

Heres the instructions i followed
From Link said:
Click Start, click Run, type sysdm.cpl, and then click OK.
Click the Hardware tab.
Click Device Manager.
Expand Bluetooth Radios.
Right-click each device listed under Bluetooth Radios, click Uninstall, and then click OK.
Close Device Manager, and then click OK.
In Windows Explorer, open the C:\Windows\Inf folder.
Rename the Bth.inf file to Bth.inf.old.
Rename the Bth.pnf file to Bth.pnf.old.
Restart Windows XP SP2.
Link: (If you read this, read it all because the first few "Solutions" aren't really ideal)
http://www.myforum.lasyk.net/showthread.php?t=10068&page=3

I followed that and mines working fine, or was, untill i removed my dongle, i think i'll have to go through that process again now. Much prefer my new cable though.

Hmm why is all the malarky needed for bluetooth? Mine works fine without any fiddling. Do you not use the builtin windows bluetoothing stuff?

Some bluetooth dongles have problems using the built in windows drivers. In SP2 windows drivers overrode the installed drivers, you need to disable the windows drivers, if i remember correctly. Mine has this problem, the software which came with it though was far from bug-free! There were a hell of alot of bugs, and when installing repeatidly got the message (Literally about 30 times) "These drivers may not work properly on a windows machine.. bla bla" even though it stated on the front of the box that it was compatible with Win 95-XP.

I'm pretty sure i read somewhere that it lets you play the preview first (Which is free, except for DL cost..) then you pay (As i did) to recieve the full song? never recieved it though... so it was asthough i paid for nothing.
