ok im not that good with computers when it comes down to hardware problems so ill see if you guys can help me :)

Ok the problem im haveing is:

Sometimes when im playing DAoC my screen will freeze, i then wait about 20 secands and it takes me to the desktop and i get a message saying: "VPU recover has reset your graphics accelerator as it was no longer responding to graphics drivers".

It then states "VPU recover was unable to fully recover from a hrdware deadlock, and has switched to software rendering" Then it tells me to restart my compter to restore hardware rendering. which i do.

This has not just happened once, it can heppen quite often maybe a few times a day. its totally random.

Ive tried installing the drivers that were recommened for the DR client, but has'nt solved the problem.

This is'nt just happening when im useing the DR client, it also happens in the cata client. My drivers are updated.

So any ideas on what i can do to solve this annoying problem ?1?1?

What im useing:
Windows XP
Intell P4 550 3.4 GHZ
1024 DDR ram
ATI radeon x600 pro 256mb

try updating to the latest microsoft .net framework failing that directx, otherwise trying completly removing the ati drivers and starting from fresh.

The "VPU recovery error" is often due to a hardware problem, i've not seen this with the X600 as of yet, though have seen it loads in 9800 cards. I take it your using a Pci-e board and not agp? Or?

If its AGP i may have a potential solution

If it's new yes i'd recommend that (or within 12 months anyhow) Inside of 12 months your hardware vendor (the seller) has a legal obligation to provide a solution for this problem. Legally they cannot charge you for any aspect of this apart from carriage where applicable.

If in the unlikely event its over 12 months old then we can look at a workaround. If by chance it's a Tiny.com system then you might be in a spot of bother :) If this is the case drop me a pm.
