Yarr, ma hearties.

I am wondering whether I should consider using a VPN for my browsing / downloading now that governments all over the place are getting more interested in what we do. Does anyone have a comprehensive guide to the dos and dont's involved?

Help appreciated, PMs welcome :)

A Tor browser works very well.

But you do automatically go on a list if you download one.

I cba tbfh. At the end of the day you're pitching some cash to "someone" who may or may not be sniffing everything you do at their end (and perhaps handing to governments anyway) in return for some potentially anonymous pirate downloading, which if you get caught you get a stern letter about anyway.

But you won't get caught. Nobody gives a fuck. Not really. Well, other than the beeb.

If you're on a vpn theoretically they can't. Theoretically.

Call it the tin foil hatter in me. But how do you know that the company running the vpn isn't logging everything and handing those logs over on the sly? That's exactly the sort of thing I'd be targeting if I was a government agency.

And lets face it: GCHQ and the NSA havr form for being overreaching cunts and governments for ignoring due process....

NSA are american so who cares. Oh and you could use tor on a first VPN. Or a second vpn through a first if your really tin foil hat.

But i have downloaded enough without anything. Cant even be bothered with peer guardian and not had a sniff from anyone

I think old Eddie Snowden would argue that you're an idiot for putting this point forward :D

If anyone has any reliable streaming websites, or direct download sites, that would be grand.

Finding torrents are getting a bit hit and miss now.

No wonder you are buying into the right's bullshits if you give up your basic and essential rights with a shrug.
