Volunteering (for experiance)

Anyone know any companies which help volunteers find volunteering spots in jobs and so on?

Or is it simply a case of asking individual companies if they would like an employee?

I want to maybe have 1-2 weeks volunteering for a banking branch or something to do with accountancy but I'm not particularly sure how to go about it.

Are there no agencys that could place you in something? for something so temporary I'd be suprised if they would open the doors. Unless you know someone on the inside

Aren't you thinking of work experience? You can write to apply for that sort of thing.

Volunteering would be more along the lines of oxfam, british heart foundation etc.

LOL good luck getting Work Experince at a bank for 2 weeks. It's more hassle for the bank to take you on in comparrison to anything you'd be able to do.

Accountants on the other hand would be more willing imo, but have fun Filling all day.

You're gonna want to do something for more than 2 weeks if possible.

Think about it, if anything that isnt insanely obvious... it's going to take at least a week to train you or get you anywhere near useful.

The resources diverted to you will then no way be recovered by you with your new 'experience' for the second week

Having said that, it looks great on your C.V. - everybody should be doing easter and summer internships from the age of 16 if they want to stand out when they graduate 5/6 years later

It might be tough getting through as a volunteer in an accounting or finance company, simply because their insurance wont cover you so you wouldnt be able to do anything!

The best thing is probably just try to get taken on as a skill seeker for admin purposes, something thats just minimum wage =)

assuming you want to get experience in a specalised field then its more likely your gonna shadow someone, not be sat down and told to handle millions of pounds to get some practice in

You get shit EXP for for voluntary work, I suggest water beetles for faster leveling up!

Not exactly; you generally won't get paid atall for work experience or volunteer work. Therefore 2 Weeks is ample.

And that site is rubbish;

"There are currently no vacancies at TimeBank. Please check back at a later date."

As if there are no charities wanting volunteers.
