Void Eld RAs?

HI guys

im gonna take my eld out RvR a lot more and was wonderign what RA's to get

Ive currently got

MCL 1
AUG Acc 2
Serentity 1
Wild Power 1

Any ideas?

Hmm, for a void eld, MOC is not as essential as for a mana mage, though its probably the only 10+point ability worth considering (bar AA).

MoP, More WP, More AA are all very sensible

and that +resits ra

also considering Mastery of the Art as it reduces cast times and void could really do with that! Requires AA3 though and I dont know if the cast time reduction is appreciable. Anyone else got any xperience with Mastery of the Art?

Allso consider serenty 2 and even 3 or mcl2. WP and MOP are very nice both of em....later maybe go for aug con and thoughtness too for more hps

I think that's them all.
Atm I still have spare points as i'm trying to decide whether to spread my points more in more 1 pt RA's (as these give most value for money imo) like aug dex, ethereal bond etc. or to save up for aug acc 3 so i have access to RA's with that as prereq.

Was wondering is there a major difference with serenity 2 over 1?

Ive heard each level is equalivent to MR at each level is this true?

I only got the MoA yesterday so give me a couple of days to play around with it and test casting times a bit more, my idea was to reduce my casting times while upping damage output.

BTW has anyone tried Negative Maelstrom?

nice spec, im not sure about mages who go for aug con / toughness 1 and serenity at more than 1. I did try the con/toughness but the hp difference is very small (whats 40hp to a mage that drops dead in two 500hp blows anyway?). Never convinced that the extra regen rate for serenity 2/3 was worth it. power regen rarely saves you life or helps you kill someone.

I have negative mailstrom. It has lots of uses like:-

a). Dropping while running away from a zerg (causes confusion and often stops a chace).
b). Breaking mezzes for 30 seconds
c). RP farming in Zergs.
d). Soloing 20 green / blues at once.
e). Lord room games / walls / mg defence.
and more.

But.. the damage isnt that hot, its a tactical weapon that disrupts a lot better than killing. I really like casting it (just to watch the damage spam for 30 secs), but to tell you the honest truth its simply not worth 14 points and I will be speccing out of it.

One thing I do like to do, is if im mezzed and gonna go down, is to drop it at my feet as the mezzbreaks (the split second before I die). Believe me no one hangs around my body to /dance

well if i was still void spec, i'd take all the same one's as i'm planning on now or already have, ie serenity 1/2, mcl 1/2, fa 1, MoW 5 (lol, joooooooooooooooking!!! ), aug aqui 3, aud dex, 1, toughness 1, MoM 1, WP 1, aug con 1.

i'm also planning to get MoC, but as a voidy i wouldnt bother, probably just spend 10 and maybe get concentration instead, could be handy to have two quickcasts sometimes, and the other 4 points could go on getting some cheap 1 point one's, to augument your others.

I don't drop dead in 2 500hp blows anymore.
For 2 points (1 in aug con, 1 toughness) you get a decent increase to your hp. Very much worth the investment imo. And mana regen does help you kill more, i notice a big difference between rvr groups with mana ments where you have mr all the time and rvr grps without. I think serenity 2 is worth going for, but perhaps higher it starts to get a bit expensive and is only for the really high rr people who have a lot of points to throw around. I like ser 2 and will definately be keeping it.

@ oblimov yes, the mr of the serenitys is the same as that of an equivalent level pow song or pot from a menta. But it stacks. ser 2 + pot 5 = mr 7. Hmm, lubbely.

I've also noticed noone else mentioned purge. Boni seems against it, and charonel gave a long list of future ra's without it on. But Eld for example, will you be working towards getting it in the future?
I ask because a lot of people seem to think purge is useless for a mage, but i've had it for a while now and many are the situations where it's saved my skin...and on the odd occasion too has saved my whole group. Purge is well worth 10 points imo.... if only so you can solo those annoying assassins.

Imo, all mage classes should get aug con 1 aug dex 1 toughness 1 and mom3 wp3 aug acuity 3, will help you loads.

forget mcl2 -its a joke and total crap
IF u consider u wana be gimped voider id go wp over mom coz it will grant u more chanse to 1-2 shot mages with bolts fast-bolts are where wp is better then mom imo
also with void Slow casting speed id recommend mastery of art 2
and i dont recommend to spread ur pts in dex1 t1 con1 -would be possible later when u need many rps to get new skills but as u arent hi rank u better get ur wp,mom higher
and i think ser2 is also needed

I like my purge, and i'm not gonna get rid of it. Plus i'm not so sure about getting MoA as i use baseline light nuke and when fully buffed hit 2 sec cap on that easy. Unless of course MoA can take you under the 2 second cap. I've heard conflicting stories about this so will have to check it up. And for faster casting of bolts...no point i always qc the second anyway and it is generally cast as the first hits = no chance for mage to back out of range.

And i thought high resists reduce mez time not chance to be mezzed? If so even with high resists purge is handy as you can still be left standin about like a plonker while the rest of your grp gets ganked.

mcl 2 isnt really there as something on it's own, it's there to be used with serenity, the reason mcl 2 is worth it is that it puts you instantly above the 50% mark, and so onto max regen rate, meaning less downtime due to having to regen, coupled with serenity's faster regen rate anyway, giving a "rezz 'n' ready" ability without having to sit there like a gimp for a few mins

mcl 2,with serenity 1 or 2, along with fa 1, would enable you to be ready to move almost straight away after being rezzed, whch, as a caster would be happening more often that most other people , of course, you get scary people like redhdwitch giving those uber full power, full heath rezzes, but ghetto mezzes happen a lot too

yes, resists dont effect the chance to be mezzed, merely the duration, chance of resist is based solely on lvl.

Great, so youve spent loads of spec points so you can be "rezz 'n' ready' when you get ghetto rezzed. Personally I would find MCL1 and serenity 1 adequate and a quater of the cost and find myself a decent bard / ment to group with and spend the points on making sure I didnt die as much.

Health / Mana crystals can be used for the 1 in 100 battles where you are actually rezzed mid fight.

Hehe, still not so sure about the con/toughness things, I did have these ra's but ditched them cause I felt that extra 50hp really didnt save my life enough times and were too passive. Perhaps these are worth getting once AA is at 3, and MoM /Wp at 2, but not before?

Purge? Im not against it, I simply left it of my list cause Im really not that sure about it and havent had the bottle to spend 10 points to really see how often it is of use. I cant say I spend that much time wishing for a purge these days, esp with the nice d00ds with gp around.

I can confirm that it is. However, there are dimishing returns past MR5. Even although I'm a mana ment I still got Serenity 1 since it's only one point

Purge is definately worth it, especially if you wait a sec before using it. By then the albs/mids who mezzed you will be locked on to anyone ni your group still roaming free and you'll be free to take down a few of them before they realise your not mezzed anymore. I usually start with the person who mezzed (revenge ) then the mages. Hopefully i can get em all before the tanks see what's goin on and we start that Benny Hill style sketch when i'm gettin chased about by 3 tanks.

I'm still thinking about getting purge, but have heard conflicting views on it so am holding out for a while on a decision till I save my next 10 points
