Does anyone know of a bit of software out there that can filter out just a voice and get rid of any back ground noise.

I want to grab a few soundbites from movies to use as message alerts on my mobile but I hate how much background noise there is on the dialogue (gunfire, music etc).

Anyone know of any nifty software that does this without costing the earth?

Your best bet would be to get it from a DVD/rip with 5.1 sound. The voice has its own channel, so should make it much easier to grab. I'm not sure how you'd do this, but it's bound to be easier than grabbing from a flat 2 channel soundtrack where software would need to cut around other audio.

What you're after is a noise gate Kenny. Its a device (or software) that cuts audio off below a certain amplitude.

Try Goldwave, it has a zillion filters.
