Anyone else had an issue to / from Vodafone regarding number porting?

I was told that it would be today between 11am to 4pm. My old GiffGaff showed "no service" from early this morning, so I turned on my new phone periodically today to see if it had worked.

Shocker, it hadn't ported by 4:05pm. I phoned Vodafone customer services (who were not very good) and they said "oh it will definitely be by 8pm". It's now 8:20pm and it's still showing "no service".

Any suggestions?

Are you leaving you phone right off with the SIM out? I know when I ported they said I needed either the SIM or the Battery out for it to be completely off the network.

The SIM is still in it, I've never heard that the SIM needs to be right out before.

Shouldn't need either out. I just ported my Mum from Voda to Giffgaff on a new phone and both phones were powered off but the SIMs and batteries were in.

Took a 45 minute phone call and a lot of complaining to get it fixed. The woman had to sit with the "guy who does the porting" to make sure it was done. 5 minutes later, all sorted.

Vodafone have been a complete arse ache for me aswell. Even tho i left them 3+ years ago, your number is still hosted by whoeever you got it from. Thus even tho i was mvoing from giffgaff to three, voda still had to do the transfer.

3 weeks of no phone service, calling vodafone and being told "Yes we still have your number and we 'may' transfer it to three for you" i gave up and got a new number.
