So unless a seriously substantial offer (and i mean BIG) comes through - i can't see him being granted a move. Money isn't exactly an issue for Abramovich. So IMO he'll either have to learn to play for the badge again or rot in the reserves.

Long term contracts are becoming a farcicle these days though. A player will tie themselves down with a club just to escalate their wages until the club they really want to play for comes knocking for them.

He'll be hard to replace to be honest, not a lot of players with that kind of strenght and goal scoring ability.

Even if Shevchenko did hit his former form, he's not the same kind of player in a 4-3-3. Kalou should step up, or Ben Sahar or Sinclair.. Or they'd have to get out the money they'd cash in from his transfer and buy someone else. Even though they're hard to come by, off the top of my head Eto'o/Toni/Berbatov-class of players are the ones they'd need to buy.
They're expensive enough without Chelsea being the buyer.

Whats wrong with going where the money is ?
Lots of players move clubs / countries to get more money even though they're already mult millionaires.
Eg. Sol Campbell - big stink about him moving Spurs / Arsenal, now its all history
David Beckham - moving from Man U to Spain now America - no one says anything
Players move all the time
Teddy Sherringham moving from Spurs to West Ham
No transfer is without someone going "you traitor" and the other side going "welcome aboard"
In this day and age, I really do think its naive to expect loyalty from players if they're motivated by change of scenery, more money, or whatever

Not as easy as that, Mourinho had the players respect, moreso with Drogba when he was playing like shit YET Jose still had faith in him.

However i know AC Milan are the most likely front runners for his signature (having had Shevchenko go the other way).
