I had a look and couldnt find the answer - it may well not be easy to shutdown as MS probably consider this an extremely desirable feature :)

One warning I would give is to not download any of the many purported fixes to this problem - theres a security hole around cursors and you could end up infecting your pc.

Kryten may know a way tho :)

WTF.

Cursors don't do anything until the mouse button is clicked, what's the problem here?

Yes they do my love.

In vista, hold the cursor over a program, and it comes on. Try it, if you can speak English that is !!?!?!?!? :D

Stuck button?

Either that or there's an option I'm not aware of...

Investigating.

Ah, I see - you mean the length of time before an item is selected? Clicklock in the mouse options, under settings you can change the delay time.

I dont know if PCs do it, but Ive got 2 laptops here and they both do it. You go to -say- programs then hover over the next list to choose what to do, and if you hover over one for more like 3 bloody seconds it comes on, with no clicking required.

Can't reproduce that on either my desktop or laptop, so not sure on that one I'm afraid. If I hover over "All Programs" in the start menu, it automatically opens after circa 2 seconds, but not in any sub menus from that, or program links. Can't find any options or anything else that would suggest that behaviour either :/

Ah, i've got my laptop to do that when i hover over "All programs" from the start menu, but nothing else appears to do that.

Edit: Try - right click task bar -> properties -> start menu -> customize

uncheck "Open submenus when I pause on them with the mouse pointer"

Ahhh thanks mate thats sorted it :)

I have it on classic menu style where that option isnt shown. But if you change it to standard, then uncheck the thing, then change it back to classic, its sorted.

THANK YOU! :)
