So a few days ago i heard that if you're coming up for renewal from Virgin, you have the chance to get TiVO installed and all setup for free, and then getting charged £2 per month trusting that it is before April 2012.

This sounded like a great opportunity, but i haven't really looked into TiVO all that much, but it's one of those which could get useful one day. The current Virgin box i have is okay, but in all honesty its a bit meh, especially the rewind and pause lag which is annoying to hell.

But what are some of the benefits of TiVO over the convential Virgin box? I hear picture quality is somewhat better overall.

Thread regarding free installation etc

Not as much lag when looking at channel listings
They fixed the lag when recording started
Three recordings at once while watching a pre recorded channel
Or two and te one your watching
Internet setting to record
1gb for the big box of data or half for the small one
Predictive recording , tho i turned that off

Overall i prefer it much to the vplus box

Tho the remote is a pain to get used to but u do in the end. Had tivo since April

had one since it was released, its not has fast the old tivo pvr box vm/ntl did 10 years ago. theres a lot they need to fix and sort out and they are taking it very very slowly. my 3yr old seems to have a habbit of setting every thing to record and an undoing what he has done takes ages. v+ boxes also had this feature where say if the kids are watching handy manny on disney chan and a game is starting on ss1 it would auto switch to the match. this was a great thing imho and tivo dont do it.

shame our shit aint upto date like yank tivo users

I held off on getting it at the time as the Tivo box alone didn't interest me a great deal, the original deal has since expired however and now a new deal has arisen.

It seems Virgin Media have changed their tariffs and what not, looks pretty damn spiffy...

http://shop.virginmedia.com/bundles.html

A range of different bundles which you can chop and change, but it seems the chopping doesn't work quite right so you might need to speak to someone on the phone regarding deals.

But seems so far you can get things like...

500gb Tivo
Extra V+ HD box multiroom free
100mb internet
Phone

for about £55 or there abouts.
