I'm on a friend's computer and I can't 'view source' on web sites, I'm wondering if he has something turned off but I don't know what because I've never had this happen before. It's probably pretty obvious, it's Windows XP with IE 6 btw, does anyone else ever get this or know how to fix it?

There's also a setting in local/group policy under User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows components > Internet Explorer > Browser Menus > View Menu: Disable Source Menu option which you could check to see if it's enabled ... though I have a vague memory that if you have Windows XP Home, you might not be able to edit this via gpedit.msc

"Prevents users from viewing the HTML source of Web pages by clicking the Source command on the View menu.

If you enable this policy, the Source command on the View menu will appear dimmed.

If you disable this policy or do not configure it, then users can view the HTML source of Web pages from the browser View menu.

Caution: This policy does not prevent users from viewing the HTML source of a Web page by right-clicking a Web page to open the shortcut menu, and then clicking View Source. To prevent users from viewing the HTML source of a Web page from the shortcut menu, set the "Disable context menu" policy, which disables the entire shortcut menu.!"

Check out this discussion;

View source/edit disabled in IE - why?
http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum10/3362.htm

- there's a couple of options outlined there - possibly your friends cache has got too big.
Cheers that fixed it, I just had to delete the cache; it also explained why all the pictures I tried to save would only come up as bmp instead if gif or jpg. :)
