Sorry for being late, but I just noticed this thread, and I too have been playing BFV. 'We Were Soldiers' is filled with American cheese, but it's still a damn good film. To understand that slighty you really have to read the book it's based on "We were solders once, and young". People have pointed out that it's cheesy for someone's last words to be "tell my wife I love her", or "I'm glad I could die for my country", but these were the actual words used by the real people.
It's also one of the few films about the Vietnam War, that show's the early period, and TBH it's one of the only films I can think of that portrays the PAVN forces as being: human, well-trained, courageous and well led.
