my last thread got b0rked somehow so lets try again.

i'm after a videosender to enable me to watch sky tv in my bedroom without having to go through the cost and hassle of having a second box fitted.

any of you used or have experience of these videosenders and if so would you be so kind as to recommend one.

an example of one

I got some Giga thingies from Maplin.co.uk they work just fine and even let you remote control your sky box/tv/whatever cos it has an IR sender too which just needs to be pointing at the telly or whatever.

comparable to what you'd get down a standard co-ax ariel lead.

Go to Argos and get the Digisender. Cheap (£70?) and I have it. Works well and easy to setup. I'm quite a distance away from the sky box but single is fine. Also no cables so zero hassle :)

Yeah, those Argos Digisenders work well.

Note that the IR sender is a bugger to get working properly though if you have one of the newer Pace Cable TV boxes. Its something to do with Pace's IR datarate being stupidly fast IIRC.

Its supposed to work fine with Sky though.

Almost, it's because the Pace cable boxes use IrDA to send stuff from the remote to the box (the same thing as you'd use on your laptop, mobile phone, etc). The original thinking was that with all the new amazing interactive stuff possible on digi cable (yeah right) there would be a demand for stuff like keyboards and game controllers.

Everything else uses standard consumer IR - these sort of remote control relays only usually support consumer IR as its the most widely deployed.

I bought a shit one for 70 quid....micromark (maplins iirc)....but as it was crap I bought a philips model from argos...which is really nice...gr8 picture...more expensive at 100 quid, but has two channels so you can have satty or dvd/video wired in at the same time. ;)
