My Media Player and RealPlayer are both just.. not working :/.

I go to play an .avi or .mpg file and pretty much all of the vids dont work. When i select the vid to watch, Media Player opens, then as its about to load it comes up with "<Player> has encountered a problem and needs to close. Sorry for the inconvience" etc etc.

The problem just happened one day not long ago, at the time didnt think too much of it. The thing is, when i click on the file, it will show a preview on the left hand side (Picture) so i dont know?

...

Im on WinXP, i even updated WMP to .9 which didnt do job either

Sounds like a screwed codec somewhere, download GSpot Codec detector (incase you haven't already got it) and load up a movie that doesn't work. Then click on the render button at the bottom and see if it renders it OK, if it doesn't render, it will tell you what file the problem occured in. If it does render then its possibly not a codec problem.

Remove all the codecs from your system that you can see in add/remove programs, and then goto the divx site and download the codec pack from there (not the nimo one)

So maybe a Codex prob? Hmmm I have installed a few codecs, didnt know they could cause the problem tho...

Have just unistalled NIMO. The problem has now stopped occuring.

Ooolala.! :/ heh.
