One of me guineas pigs had to be put to sleep this morning, i'm really upset twas sprockett the one that looked like a little water buffalo.

She had some tumours and then got a chest infection so it was for the best but i bloody miss her already its all really quiet and poor old pookie has gone in to hiding.

Its always bloody horrible to have a pet die, every single time it happens i always say "thats it, im getting a tortoise!". I know loads of you on this forum have lost pets so you all know what its like, doesnt matter whether its a goldfish or a saint bernard dog, its always horrible.

RIP sprockett may the grass be tender, the clover be sweet and there be plenty for you to gnaw on.

Buy an African Grey Parrot Ez.

They can live for up to 50 years. Chances are that it will see the boots off you.

Oh no wait. Then the parrot will be sad.

Sorry to hear it Ez :(

Nothing anyone can say is going to make it better - only time will do that. The only thing I can say that might help is something you'll no doubt know already, but I'll say it anyways; Even though it doesnt feel like it now, eventually the good memories will eventually outweigh the bad ones, and you'll beable to remember sprockett without so much pain.

I always remember my old dog sunny, I grew up with him practically, me and him were inseperable from the time I could walk. obviously he's long gone by now, but I almost always smile when I look back and remember him, only really vague memories now but good ones none the less, the pain of losing him isnt as strong anymore.

Animals are so strange, you get so attached to them, its unimaginable to anyone who hasnt felt it.

Thx guys :)

I did a nice oil painting of pookie and sprockett together in a flower bed this morning which was very soothing and B2 took me out to look at the tortoises in the local reptile shop (very sweet little one was trying to get in a small hole, hadn't quite realised that his shell isn't flexable!) and then we got fish and chips.

any hoo thanks for the messages

Just remember that she is in no pain anymore, and most likely happily munching on clovers and stuff in her guinea-heaven. And soon enough, when you think of her, you will remember all the good times and be able to smile, i promise.

Aww poor Ez.
I've only had 1 pet die on me. And i must admit i wasn't crushed. It's was Mikkel the sexchanging parakeet. The most vicous little bird you'd ever find, not to mention dumb as rock. "he" layed an egg, and pretty much died.
it attacked anything in or near the cage, kept imitating the egg timer and pecked at the branch it sat on, until it broke and the retarded thing fell pathetically to the bottom of the cage.

I lost two dogs and three cats in my life. Each loss was painful, especially when you see that the pet "knows" it´s going to die. My current cat is 6 years old now and I already fear the day when she´s crossing the rainbow-bridge.

Well, usually you know when it's gonna happen, like with sprocky, it was coming a long way, so losing pets ain't, luckily i think, that traumatic. Sure, it's sad, but have to wonder if the "trauma" of it comes more from "i don't have a pet anymore", then "i've lost someone dear to me".

Actually that's a whole 'nother subject, as all mourning is selfish. Hmm..ANYWAY!..strength and good health of mind to ya EQ.

Hopefully you'll be able to remember all the great times you had with Sprocket :) There the memories that matter, I'm sure he had a great life! he's probably up there meeting all my ones from years back :D doing that weep noise like crazy!!

Did he/she leave a legacy btw?(have widdle ones?)

ha well she didnt have any babies but pookie (her sister, of all things!) used to mount her and give her the ole heave ho (aparantly its a dominance thing... not a lesbian thing)

anyhoo we still miss her, i used to sing them a song using the tune from sharky and george but about pooke and sprock.. i just realised yesterday i cant sing that any more :(

but tis getting better and poor little pookie has never had so many cuddles in her entire life she's like "wtf let go of me!! as if i havent suffered enough now you have to go and hug me... bleh!!!" *fires pellets at the stupid humans and goes weeep weeeeep*

thx for all your messages guys :)
