Hey, ive recently got a new computer:

Pentium 4, 3.4Ghz
1GB Ram
Radeon X800 SE
Windows XP

Service Pack 2
Catalyst 4.9 (Graphics Card Update)
Direct X 9.0c

before i installed the 3 above to try and solve the problem when i installed daoc onto my new machine the install would complete and the .exe wouldnt initialise when double clicked. its really wierd, and its not a firewall problem coz ive disabled them and it shouldnt be for an exe anyway

I also cant install shrouded isle. it gets to the auto run and doesnt respond when install SI is pressed.

DAoC runs on old comp fine and SI installs on old comp fine.

Any ideas?!

If you got a new computer and it has a new cd drive then that could be the problem.
I couldnt install SI on my old machine because the CD Protection was incompatible with my CD rom. The way i got around this was to share a cd drive on my network.
Worse case scenario tho, you could always get someone to send you the SI camelot.exe and the update.dat info and download the 900 odd megs :x

try and copy the whole cd onto a directory on your machine , if you can install from there.
if you can't ... i know this sounds insane but wortha shot ... Clean the cd, there might be a thumb mark on teh cd stopping the files to be seen right.

Yup just copy the directory, from your old PC or ny exploring the CD's, DAOC doesn't set up any crappy registry stuff, it just runs from the Mythic directorys.

Though non response from the camelot.exe happens a lot, had to install on my laptop 3 times to cure that one.

This used to work, copy Camelot.exe to your hard drive and run it and select "do complete file check" I'm not sure if it works any more but I remember using it during the beta days.

Use Alcohol 120% (www.alcoholsoft.com) to make images and install them from virtual drive. (but beware, this software won't damage original cd protection, it simply makes 100% exact image of original cd so protection software won't see any difference and virtual CD-ROM (included) will be able to work with it).

But, I don't think you could have trouble with your cd-rom with such a new computer unless it's failure piece.

I get this too, just copy the exe from the install directory and paste shortcut manually. No idea why it does it.

Don't know what's up with SI though.
