Alright so i got a ventrilo2.3.0 server running on my ip which works fine when its up. But when my server is starting its using 100% cpu time for 2-3 min to get it running, and the weird thing is that its something that just started to happen now for no appearent reason. I've reinstalled the OS (vent was running as a service and seriously fucked things up since it couldnt start, but i didnt know that untill now).

Soooooo anyone else heard about this problem?

Well actually i have the same problem with alot of other applications. First i thought it was only ventrilo, but the same problem happens when i try to run DU meter. But its weird because i had run a couple of installers for drivers, and also AVG free...

Hmm i might be suspecting some viruses :D

Seems this problem is only with a couple of exe-files. They have lost their icon (they only got the classic blue frame and white window), and when you check their properties it gives info like:

Company: [][][][] <-- supposed to be some silly squares, somehow i cant paste the real text
Internal name: fso
Language: Chinese (PRC)
Original Filename: fso.exe

But how did it happen to them?

And why didnt it happen to all my exe files? Like firefox is working normally, as well as my game Anno 1701, but not Warcraft III. The two games are even in the same parent folder.

And if its a virus, why didnt avg catch em and why isnt it spreading? :D

Im sooooo puzzled right now

trend micro have an online scanner which can be useful if you think something has borked your AV. not all AVs detect everything anyway. less dodgy sites and game cracks/warez ;)
