Why are a lot of the French (shall we say 30 million - that's about 50% of the population) bitter, pray tell? And can you quote the survey you carried out for this anaylsis and where it's published please?

I find myself inclined to agree with Dillinja to a point, it does seem to be a bit lacking in respect that these kind of monuments are treated in such way by a small minority of a country who, without the people who gave their lives in such a way, probably wouldn't exist at this time.

Would also be interesting to know if this kind of thing is reported at all in France to any large extent when it happens.

Oh and stop being so abusive to each other, with that and the stupidly lame threads that were started this evening its getting back to the days when we had to remove Exor, Dimebag et al. Yeah, but it's not like all of france strolled down there to vandalise the graves. It was a bunch of idiotic thugs, you can't link that to french people in general. When I was 15 I went to france (an hour north of paris- little country village) because my dad was working on a house there. The next-door neighbour was a top bloke, his garden was the best I have ever seen. Perfect flowers, trees and manicured hedges. He also looked after the garden of the house we were in (and doing up). He always had a spare minute to talk (it was quite fun due to neither of us *really* speaking the others language) and he and his wife made us really welcome.

The villiage we were in wasn't big and it only had one pub/restaurant and the locals were always happy to see and welcoming.

My dad is the typical irish navvy (looks kinda like rab c nesbit) and thus didn't know any french before going over. So when he went to the timber-yard/b&Q sorta-thing it was kinda hard to get what he wanted. But the assistants were patient and actually found it quite fun to bring to guess and were in no way patronising.

This thread is pointless. It serves no useful ground for discussion. Someone mentions a group of french vandals vandalizing a british monument in France. Great. Thanks for bringing that up. A few fair observations follow. Then comes the inevitable racism and arrogance that humanity is known so well for. Several people (I don't want to label them as Brits the way they labeled the vandals as French) react furiously, saying things like

"most french people are right cunts."

"less than 50% [of french people] have been better than utter cunts."

"French people have some serious problems"

"This isn't the first time the French have done something like this though. It begs the question - why are we letting them away with it?"

Are these quotes to be taken very seriously and followed up on (like I'm doing now, *pulls on shirt collar*)? Judging from their sources...probably not. Regardless, I find it somehow alarming that these quotes are coming from our time...they really are pretty disgusting...and yea, I'll leave it at that...don't want to sound too melodramatic now do I?

I'm hoping this thread got so out of control not because some people hate the French in such an irrational way, but because when you start arguing, you are too busy trying to score points to stay with your original point.

Really though, we should have these forums as a 1 v 1 DM, rather than a TDM. You can never get fair sides.

Tempus got it right, but Dillinja is still a retard for thinking that the French have something against us. I doubt hes ever been to France, its a lovely place, and I can honestly say that in the 5-6 times I've been there I've never had any grief off anybody for being English. They're a great bunch, and have a much better standard of living then we do over here.

People should also remember that we didn't invade France to save the French, we did it to get rid of a maniacal despot with obscene dreams of creating a German super-state. If Hitler had stopped at France, and the Japs hadn't joined the war, I bet we'd have done nothing.

Thinking about it, its comments like Dillinja's original about the French that inspired people to follow a twat like Hitler in the first place.

Well my take on this is basically a group of people that either don't know better or are doing it because they know it'll kick up a fuss have damaged some war graves. Obviously things like this are terrible when they happen, however i feel labeling the whole incident as 'vandalised by France' a tad on the harsh side. I understand Dillinja's point though, they probably are some French people that had a good laugh at it, but there was probably a lot more that felt just as disgusted as you lot do.

Basically, every country has its good and bad people but you shouldn't label the whole populaton of one country as bad just because of the action of a very small group. if everyone did that the UK would be knackered, methinks of BNP, football hooligans etc.
