For about 2weeks ive had the Motorola v600. The phone itself is a gem, the onlny thing i dont like is the fact that it can only store 10messages in your inbox, to me that isnt good at all.

But, going away from the phone and onto the software, i have to say its the biggest pile of shit ive ever used. The software is "Mobile PhoneTools". The first problem is when i start by opening the program. The software says theres an update available, so i click on download. I get an error message and have to click cancel. If i refuse to download the software, it gives me another error message but this time does NOT allow me to do anything, the program locks and im unable to close it, the only option is resetting the PC, which gets tedious.
So, the beginning is not good, the rest?

Im impressed with the fact that the v600 has a large ammount of space (5mb), making you able to download mp3s from your PC to the phone. Now, i say, that about 500k is absolutely wasted on ringtones/pictures that are on the phone already, but are locked so you cannot delete them. That myself is not good as i rarely like any ringtones/pictures the phone has to offer, so having them locked to the phone is not not - Not impressed.
If anyone knows of any software which does allow you to modify this, then please, send me a PM or whatever as i just want them off my phone

The software, comes shipped with the phone, so youre expected to think that the software to help you go through all this, will be free. After all its a dear phone, and youre paying enough as it is. But Motorola/Hellomoto have other ideas *bing!* "I know, we'll give them a 30day trial of our BUGGY software to let them think "ahh yes! this will be value for money, paying for software that never works, i'll buy it immediatly!".
I mean that is pathetic, so instead of getting FREE software, you have to wait until they get it right and waste how much money?

Going onto that one, i wasnt impressed when i couldnt use "My Bluetooth Places" to transfer pictures, ringtones etc to Phone/PC. I just tried it again and it fucked up my system :/. Why make a phone dedicated to just one piece of software - That is buggy to fuck! And if you dont intend to pay for the software, after 30days, what then? Never transfer files again? :/
To me this will just make more people download crack files of this software if ever one comes available. I cant see people paying for software which don work, to me thats unacceptable.

I dont know about the other features of the phone, because ive just been pissed at how shit one option is, god knows what the rest is going to be like. BRB have to reset PC again now coz i loaded up the software - Which has crashed for no reason :/

So if anyone does know any ways to remove the other ringtones/pictures, tell now! :p

Firstly, this software isn't exclusive to the v600, and the v600 doesn't only work with it. It can be used with several other Motorola phones too. I've never used it and I don't need to use it. MP3 ringtones, and midi ringtones get moved across via bluetooth and the bluetooth software, which isn't the best either but it does me.

Another thing, you must have got one of the old batches of the phone because they don't store 10 MMS messages. Mine starts getting messages to start deleting old messages after I hit 20, and the only reason I got that many was because I was having a text conversation in a place I couldn't talk in. What's the point of keeping your messages? How hard is it to remember 300 characters of text?

It is a bit dumb to have locked files but if you think about it... how many phones let you wipe off EVERYTHING? Not many, if any? From reading other forums when I was deciding what phone to buy, I saw some advice on how to get 'rid' of these files. You have to make an empty file, with the same filename and extension, and move it over. They won't work and it will take up a lot less space.

If it doesn't happen, then I don't care. I hardly change my ringtone anyway and my phone is working as I need/want it to.

You suck :p

Most phones do let you store messgaes on the phone memory. If you can only store 10-20 they are being stored on the sim card. Sucks abit.
