.... Looks like we are one step closer to being treated like the people in V for Vendetta. In the Metro today, a new curfew will come into place for under 16, if any are on the street after 9pm then they will have their parents called and taken home. The parents could also face fines etc

Just waiting for the listening and thought police now

Isn't this exactly what the UK people have been screaming for?

Chavs off the streets etc?

Not saying i agree with these kind of "behavior laws" by the way.

Good about time the streets became safe to walk without having to worry about a group of 20 drunk 15 year olds giving you a hard time. And with all the stabbisngs in london i can see how these kids can scare people.

If you know anything about this country it wont stop there.

I understand how it can be a benefit but its just one step closer to a complete nanny state

As i do not really break the law i would rather life in this Nanny state where crime and deaths were down than be able to walk down the road but be too scared because another person got stabbed to death for no reason this week.

But if they nannify the state, you won't be able to walk down the street because of an overall curfew on the populous.

Whats the difference Police say i can't walk down the road because curfew (potential for travel passes ect ignored) Or being to scared to walk down the road though fear of death? Either way your sat at home not doing anything ;)

This is a paradox if i ever saw one :D

Now there's no difference in "walking down the street now" or "staying home at curfew", but if they nannify the state, you can't walk but it would be safe to walk :D

If it gets too bad you can always move to Sweden, where our crime rate is so low that we report on every stabbing in the UK because there's nothing else :p

We could be writting the Dr Who Christmas Special here swap chavs for Garlics and your there ;)

I suppose the difference would be now your allowed but far to scared to walk somewhere. In the Nanny state the road is safe but you may need to fill out a few forms to walk down the shops ;)

I plan on moving to Canada if im ever good enough at my job to be allowed in.

My sister is going to be a tad pissed, but I don't think she'll care much. Only time she's out post 9pm is when we do a family thing.

If this is to try and deter knife and gun crimes, I really can't see it working. I mean do they really think they're going to have enough police going around to get every minor indoors by 9pm? Also it's not only minors who are commiting the crimes :<

Yes but where does it end? You may not be a criminal but you will be treated as one, no-one will be allowed to do anything out of choice.

And one national database may not sound such a big deal to you as you dont break the law but what happens if and when that database gets into the wrong hands? Imagine what someone like Hitler could have done with full information on every single person in the country for example. You may think this is far fetched but we have already seen how good this government are at losing valuable information
