UT Tweaks

[old.SUp3rFM]

Hi

Need some tweak advices. I made some, like low details, no dynamic lightning, no high detail actors, etc.. still, i get 40fps avg, and 20 or less fps minimun (when r0x fly, can't see dick ). Can ne1 point me out some tips?

Abit be6-II (bios updated w/latest release)
192mb
Voodoo3 3000
30gb udma66 7200rpm

The board has some issues over IRQ's sharing, the problem for my low FPS could be there.. still I would like to read from you some tweaks.

try changing your minimun disired frame rate to something high like 30 and if it goes below that then the game will rduce effects accordingly. or thats wat the manual says sorry i'm just readin' outta a book!

I have to admit that I'm surprised you're suffering since you have a V3, you are using glide?

I understand it if had the more powerful GF series since they have to run in D3D which is slow.

I'm using glide, logical

I've upgraded my board to an Abit be6-II, a much, much better than the old one I had... But I'm afraid, at UT I can't take much advantage. Guess it's something related to IRQ stharing or some crap like that

any help?

You should be flying with that setup.

What resolution are you running at?

Turn Texture Details to medium and Skin Details to medium.

If you play CTF then put Dynamic Lighting on, because the flag carrier emits a nice come-shoot-me glow And you can see it through thin walls.

You're not using Hardware Accelerated sound are you? (A3D?)

I'm using 640x48, with all details on low

With the tweakings i've made from the UT TG from 3dspotlight I've gained 12fps, so I'm getting 50/54 on avg.. but still.. 20 when things get hot and rox flyin

Can't think of anything i could do to get more fps. Gonna upgrade to 256mb ram... oh.. a pesky detail.. i'm running w2k

(yeas.. w2k it's not a gaming OS, bla, bla, bla... still with my old configuration, I was still running UT under w2k and getting my tourney action more fluid

)

There's something weird here man.

Voodoo3 on a 500Mhz machine, you should be able to run at an uber high resolution with most things maxed out and get excellent frame rates.

what IRQ conflicts do you have?
