UT CTF League WTF is going on !!!!!!!

Lads,

What are you playing at with changing us from our Division at this stage. Even worse you didn't even inform us, I know you have so much to do after all you swapped a whole 2 clans around. The only reason we found out about this change is that I was checking out levels etc for future games and just happened to see your massive news message about the change, a whole 1 line of it.

Whats the story did Void moan about they're lowly placing or what. So you decided "ahhh fuck they're only paddys" or is it something else. This is not about status, its not about being in Div1, we had already started to make preparations etc and now 5 days before the start we have to scrap all that and replan everything. Also we have a "little" rivalry with EED and we were looking forward to playing them as they were also.

Cmon come clean plaease let us know what your reason is and if you can't come up with one we expect to be reinstated into Division1. The Borg has tipped us to do well in the DM league I have news for you most of us do not play DM we are mainly a CTF clan and this league was/is important to us. But at this moment I'm a little bit annoyed to say the least.

I gotta agree with gandalf.

I have never herd of a league where an admin has made changes, and just gone ahead and done it, moved teams around. And not told everyone. I am not questioning the right of the admins to make changes, even make changes and give no reason for them. But it is common curtosey for the teams concerned to at leased know about it.

Now people question the connections of DZR to the barrysworld servers..

Then why not check your own server logs to see how good or bad they have done. NGI World Stats.. Or even have a challenge game on the servers..

We were all really looking forward to playing in division 1 of the BWCTFL, then without any notice we get demoted to division 2b after been placed in division 1 beforehand. How have we gotten any worse in the past day, from div1 to div2 without being notified and with no explinations.

Strange indeed. I'm sure the other div1 clans find this strange too. I think a good explination is in order.

This is pretty ridiculous, did Void ask to be put in Div1? If so, why were we not at least told we were being moved before it was done? Seems to be one set of rules for one set of clans, and another for the rest.

Give us a decent explanation without any bull$hit - I doubt you can.

I've spoken to Gandalf about this.

You never *asked* to be in Division1, and when Void approached me to say that they felt mis-positioned i looked at all the info available to me and DZR seemed the most suitable clan to swop with them for a number of reasons, the principal one being the ping issue.

I do not doubt for one minute that you are a very talented clan, however Irish (and Euro) clans often have trouble reproducing that on Uk servers due to a number of issues outwith BW's control. I myself have often participated in games where the fact that the opposition were playing from ireland was the deciding factor, not their skill level (which is often very high).

I appreciate you may feel a little miffed at not being consulted, but i had to act quickly and if i had checked with every clan in Division 1 it would have taken far too long. We will never be able to please all of the clans involved, to be honest i think that is impossible, but we feel moving DZR was in theirs and the leagues best interests.

The response as it is from UT clans has been quite poor, it is a struggling game compared to Q3 and TFC/CS and we are trying our best to accomodate those who enjoy it.

C'mon guys, calm down a bit please. Yes I know I am the Head Admin for the Deathmatch League but I think we need not lose sight of a few things before everyone get's to overly judgemental.

Try and remember that we (the entire admin staff) are all doing this for free in our own time and whilst that doesn't give any admin the right to be plain shit it should, at least, cut us all a little more slack.

Now I am involved in the UT scene, as you know, but I only just have time to run the DM league let alone the CTF one as well. God knows I would love to as it's going to produce some stunning matches however needs must when the Devil rides your free time stopwatch

As I mentioned I know a little bit about some of the teams, not nearly as much as I would like to, so is it fair to expect someone who doesn't have the time to get heavily immersed in UT to actually know who the better clans are?

Yes there are ways of finiding out but do you seriously expect Bigfoot to have the time to look up details about every last clan? Hell, he probably doesn't get time to read my column so would never have known about my comments on who I thought would do well in the DM league.

As far as I know the initial divisional placements were somewhat randomn anyway, and before a mail is sent out with a finalised schedule it is of course open to change. Until you get a final notice you cannot assume that it won't change really.

Yes in an ideal world it would be great to let everyone know every last change but I think you have to be more practical here and realise that we are all working the best we can with the resources we have.

Until we have a season under our belts in all the leagues it is impossible to seed any clan at all so I would ask that you all just give it time. This league has the best servers and is run by people who really do care about the people playing the game rather than raking in cash from them so please just stick with it. There are gonna be some great games whichever division you are in and the leagues will get better and better with your support.

Yes but you weren't going to, you have already said that we were prime targets to change.

Again I disagree with you on this point. Over half our clan is on ISDN which means they normally get sub 100 pings to that BW servers. At this stage it looks like we've got no choice but to like it or lump it. One email would have probally sorted this situation. If you were changing loads of clans around then I appriciate you would not be able to do it but the only people not to know about this was DzR, Void knew because they asked, you knew but we didn't. We only found out because I checked the news section by accident.

Sorry to hear that. I reakon it is the best game of the whole pile out there. I'm a Vanilla Quake/Quakeworld player and I feel UT is the nearest game in playability to that Groundbreaker.

Maybe in the UK. Seems to have a decent following over here. Lots of QW, Q2 & Tribes heads playing it.

Remember I may be criticising you on one point but I think all decent games players really appriciate the excellent servers, leagues etc that Barrysworld provides you just need to communicate more
