I know there have been loads of messages on this subject, BUT:

I'm wondering if I should upgrade to WinXP? Is anyone out there using XP at the moment?

If so, what is it like performance wise? i.e. hardware resources, like memory and hard disk space used etc??

Any improvment on games perfromance? better DirectX functionality and the like?

Any other comments on XP? or even just a straight, yes upgrade or no don't it's shit??

If you're using Win2k and you have no real reason to upgrade, I would say not to bother. WinXP is essentially Win2k with a few added extras, a few annoying issues, etc. It's probably fair to say its no greater than, or no worse than Win2k.

What duzel said basically.

I'm using it here, and it just seems to be a more annoying version of 2k (annoying in the sense that it just doesnt like certain things).

If you play quake 3 or CS/HL a lot then stick with 2k, as the performance with these is shoddy under xp (although whether its xp or the nvidia drivers that causes it is beyond me) Shoddy meaning they like to crash, taking the system with them. (actually, with all open gl games)

Other issues with the installation of software are also annoying (but im not going into them here :D)

Still, im keeping XP on here for the time being - although if certain issues aren't fixed soon i'll be going back to 2k

-----------------------------------------

Out of interest, I've been thinking that the causes for the crashes in open gl games is to do with the xp refresh rate fix. Games seem fine before this (cept look yuck), and i dont get any of the "exit crashes". Soon as the fix is applied, the crashes start. (works fine in 2k)

Anyone else had crashes before, etc? (or stopped the crashes?)
