Making my first movie told that this was a good proggy to use so im editing my clips into a film.
I load the clips up onto the story board, I can view all the avi clips in the previewer but as soon as i put them into the sequence and try to view the entire clip...the clips then just go black, so i thought maybe this is just a prob with the player so i render the film save it out and again the entire thing is just black except for the title i put in at the beginning.

As i said first movie so bit of a noob any1 know whats going on...thx in advance Tam

make sure you have the relevant codec's installed
had that problem when i tied to import X-Vid files without the X-Vid codec

Also make sure the files are put on the timeline not just imported (excuse this if you find it patronising).

What format are the files you are trying to import in?

The files are all avi's

Thing i dont understand is if i dont have the codecs which im sure i do, why would it show in the previewer for the individual clips and not the sequence

It's still probably a codec related problem mate. What you should do, if you haven't tried it already, is get or reïnstall one of the popular codec packs again.

Here is a link to the FULL K-Lite codec pack.

If you prefer a Standard version of K-Lite, follow this link.

Even if you already have K-Lite, reïnstalling an (updated) version may sometimes fix it.

well installed the codecs but doesnt seem to affect anything ..... as i said the avi's play normally when i load them up.

They even play fine in the previewer on premier but as soon as i put them into sequence on the time line they just come out black on the play back of the full version and when its rendered.

User game cam to record the footage, think ill get fraps and try with thats instead.

Really dont know why its not working thx for replies

I think the editor has a problem with avi files .... just thrown in two wmv's in and it works fine. Think ill trying using frap, saves as a different file type hopefully will run better
