Never used it, is it useful in CS, do many people use it in public servers?

I think its alright but the camera needs to be locked so people can't give away others position once dead.

well, camera's are never locked on pubs, although I think they should for that very reason.

They're permitted in all leagues, so I really don't see the problem with it

Which is a bummer because me and Erebus were playing against one team that had three people in one room, so they knew where we were all the time which isn't very good since half of CS is about creeping around :(

Aye :(

That reminds me...Been playign CS for quite a while now, but never actually played on "match" settings. I know the chasecams are locked, but does it also mean that you can't free-cam?

I should hope so

Yeah it means you cant free cam.
Also i dont think you should do locked cam in public servers, they are meant to be fun and a good place to practise against a variety of players. Its fun watching a enemy creep up on your teamm8s and knife em. I have only come across one occasion of people using rw in public servers, and it did not ruin the game, just made it more challenging.

RW is a good thing unless it's abused by lamers... it's nice to chat in real time to your clan mates while playing cs...

The funniest thing though, is how most people don't say a word. The guys I play with are pretty good mates both online and off, the couple I haven't met/go out with regularly I speak to on the phone pretty often, and they are a sociable bunch. Hence our RW sessions usually consist of pisstaking and laughing rather than any serious tactical comment eg "nice fucking skillz falling off that roof Daz" (we get to use that one alot :) ).

However, it seems that whenever I've invited other people onto an RW session, they go absolutely quiet, and nothing can convince them to utter any more than the odd cough. And yet as SOON as you get back to IRC/whatever, they are immediately chatty again.

well stu, after hearing my voice (psycho knife-waving cockney cunt I believe was the last description) and markys voice (nutter face-stabbing mancunian accent if I recall correctly) do you blame them mate? I reckon you're the only one that sounds vaguely normal :)

LOL !!!!! Yeah, that is SO true :p We generally talk a load of crap together too, which makes it a more sociable game, and loads more fun :)

I rarely speak on RogerWilco cos my family walk in on me and start asking questions and then I gotta explain to them what I'm doing and I cant bear to say in front of them 'Cover the basement! Cover the basement!' or summat equally lame :)

I think having the locked chasecam would be a good idea on puplic servers - I think I've only come across one that did that. The one thing that annoys me about using RW is when someone chooses the wrong time to either ask what I'm doing (we have a permanent RW server), or someone in the same game screams "thats absolute bollox I'ad him" just as someone on the opposing side comes round the corner - it's completely offputting.

yes, but you can get dedicated nix or win32 servers, that allow multiple channels. kind of an audio version of IRC.
