I just want mythic to fix the stupid arse windows key crash thing, it is irritating beyond all measure. The game should ignore the key or something.

No, I cannot turn it off, I don't have the drivers and I will not pull the keys from my kb.

wierd - I have not disabled my windows key at all - and have no problems with it, I can jump on it and still it doesn't crash windows (just my keyboard

) - and still I hear of so many others where win.key jumps out of daoc.

cant say i think daox is a cheat. but its good its not permitted if it makes it harder to run the more high tech cheats.

Most DAoC players strongly believe that all hacks, cheats and exploits should be taken out of the game, except for the ones they use themselves.

ps: when sum1 uses speedhack (and u dont need daox to use it) then this one is cheating, using daox just to play on window mode SHOULD NOT b considered a cheat, i know its against the CoC etc etc but its NOT really a cheat (f u just use daox... not daox+sth(ramcheat or whatever) )

window mode gives you no advantage.
It breaks the EULA and the CoC; it's illegal. It is not, however, giving you any kind of advantage in game vs the other players...
So imho it's only a cheat in the legal sense.

If you use it to craft whilst working on other programs then yes u can switch to other programs with it still running...it allows access to potential to use other cheats (not saying everyone does who uses it but it does put the potential there) and gives you the ability to use IRC whilst playing...thus those spying on other realms (gonna use hib spying on alb for ease of speech, nothing more) for instance a hib spying on an alb, the ability to tell those in hib when important events r going to take place....for example, alb arrange a hib relic raid, a hib spy catches wind of it and tells others in IRC also using DAOX whats about to happen.

Nother example, a hib in alb land can point hibs towards enemies through the safety of not being able to b killed by the other albs by use of IRC.

I know that those with 2 accounts can do the same on 2 computers but thats another issue (think buffbots too).

DAoX isn't a 100% legit program and helps 'some' others to 'cheat' and thus is against CoC. I agree it would b very useful to be able to do other stuff whilst crafting, coming from a crafter myself but it's against a code of conduct which EVERYONE of you agreed to when you started to play the game, and so should rightly b banned.

I'm sure I've missed more points relating to that as to what you can do to 'cheat' whilst using DAoX but o well, u get the jist of the post

tho that thread was about exploits, like speedhack or odin's eye, those programs can b used wo daox and giv u huge advantage against other players, huge and ilegal. u cant compare daox (play on window mode) and those ones.

we talking bout diff subjects tho.

I've seen countless threads where this is discussed... people seem to agree that while daox is against the coc and eula it isn't considered cheating really. However speedhacks, odin's eye etc is both against coc and eula and considered cheating. So there.

Pets shouldn't be able to find stealthers at all in disregard of distance. And since the latest patch I have seen no difference at all in range reductions to where pets can track me down. This morning in Emain, for example a pet chased me from MMG all the way down the hill to near the lake where I was promptly dealt with by the chasing pack of bloodthirsty Albs (probably hearing calls from the mage 'follow my pet he'll get the bastard').

DAOX = Cheating = Ban them.

Odins Eye/Speed Hack = Cheating = Ban them.

I don't care what lame excuses you have, wether you use it just to do something else whilst bored crafting (like no other crafters have to put up with this ?) or wether your using it to spy in irc or what, it is NOT how DAoC is intended to be played. Disabled Minimising is there to make it harder to use some cheats, your under mining that wether you use them yourself or not, Get a life and play it legitimetly like the rest of us, im sure you can make do without your precious Windows™ for a couple of hours.

Try this:

Click an icon from your inventory.......whilst it is selected (Floating about with your pointer) press the win key (or ctrl + esc)..... HEY PRESTO! Insta log

Theres a lot of people out there that use daoc unleashed and new versions of Odins... More than u think to.....

looking at the list of top 100 rp earners.... theres about 3 i know use it and about 15 i suspect use it, and about 20 that i know would use it if they could.....

Id really like to know just how pro-active goa are when it comes to monitoring and catching cheaters.... I would guess that they do very little and most cheat allegations are deleted/ignored without investigation...

OMG the mods are actually doing something... Not that I mind, I've done moderating on a MMORPG board myself

Anyway, DAoC supports running the game windowed, just add Windowed=1 (or summat like that) to the config file... Losing focus causes exit like before.
