Yes, thats the price you pay for democracy.

Remainers would just love to start banning voters.

Did I say they shouldn't? No.

It's just an unpleasant thought. Like you voting is.

They will vote for Trump because they believe he is the archangel Uriel and Democrats have kiddie-fiddling bases on Mars.

(There are probably at least a million who believe this stuff)

Remainers are by FAR AR the most likely to use the voters intelligence/education/age/geography/colour as a basis for not letting them vote.

They are fucking ground zero for...only we know the correct way to vote.

You're the one calling Remainers 'traitors'

What have remainers got to do with a US Election?

I think it's his deep rooted hatred for remainers that clouds everything he talks about

@Scouse why 'freedom of speech' isn't even working in the 21st century, from the big picture that you *actually* care about, as opposed to people being able to say what they want.

'What I was seeing was a strategy that has been deployed by illiberal political leaders around the world. Rather than shutting down dissenting voices, these leaders have learned to harness the democratizing power of social media for their own purposes—jamming the signals, sowing confusion. They no longer need to silence the dissident shouting in the streets; they can use a megaphone to drown him out. Scholars have a name for this: censorship through noise.'

The reason he has a good chance to win again is simply because the Democrats have already committed some clangers and I suspect might keep doing so.

They might pick Bernie. Trump would definitely win against Bernie.

Or should he not win quite a few of his supporters won't vote for the Democrat who does win, just like when Hillary won the democrat nomination.

It depends if you think America has more of a problem with very small s socialism or with the liberal political elite.

There are more specific reasons Bernie won’t win. His past would be a goldmine for GOP attack ads.

Trump and co are already playing the ‘poor Bernie’ tune. They want to run against him.

Corporate action and individual freedom of speech are different things.

If you've got corporations and organisations using software bots to distort public discourse then that's a separate issue from individuals being locked up for expressing dissenting opinion.

We can legitimately legislate on what corporate bodies are able to do, the forms that their lobbying can take, the sources of funding we're allowed to use without infringing on the rights of individuals to express their opinions.

Not saying it's not challenging, especially when you have people who are deliberately trying to subvert it - but there will *always* be people who try to subvert things.

The answer to that isn't to ban freedom of speech as a principle. That's plainly idiotic.

But hey, comrade, nothing bad comes from the state deciding what people are allowed to say.

In the US corporations have the same rights as individuals, including 2nd Amendment rights. Which of course they abuse.

Yep. But you can classify corporations separately from individuals quite easily.

A corporate body does not have the same requirements as individuals or self-organising human groups. They should be seens as servants of humanity, not equals.

Yes, but they're not, which is the point.(NB I meant 1st Amendment not 2nd). As ever, American constitutional "freedoms" actually have very little to do with actual freedom.

Trump's a double cunt with cream on top for firing Sondland and Vindman but to also get rid of Vindman's brother shows just how petty and vindictive he is. I guess Sondland was his pick so he can do what he likes but Vindman is a decorated war hero and his brother was guilty of... being his brother.
