What is the upsides and downsides with clustering ? I was thinking about tower taking, will be kinda hard now when every tower will be claimed and zerged immediately. ):

Imo:

Upsides: more ppl to group with for "randoms", more enemies to fight
Downsides: more zergs, more whines

what i hope for with clustering is:

* more grps to fight, especially albgrps. i would be nice more grps in a more spread out area.

* instant RvR gone. it was a blast in the beginning but it's really getting silly now. it gathers to many ppl into a seculded area, and the chance for a good fight is really low :( i'm not worried about the albzerg since it's not mobile, what scares me is the hibs. as i only play mid i have no idea where the midzerg is or what it's doing, but from what i can tell most grps aren't ''KILL! KILL! KILL!'' everything in sight.

* more tower/keep siege. keep sieges can be fun and a welcome change to roaming. and it keeps the zerg busy and entertained. it's always fun to run past a siege with a grp, try and do some damage and run away. so in the incoming clustering i hope to see alot more mid/hib/alb-towerskeeps burning.

* RvR in another zone than HW. cause i'm really fed up with the scenery. it would be really nice if you can find hib/alb-grps (even 2fgs or small zergs are fine, just as long as they don't stand at a bridge) in emain, brifine, pennie mountains, odin's gate, etc.

basicly i want it to be abit more like when NF just been released (but without ppl quitting ofc). my memory is a bit foggy but i remember it to be quite fun. i ran with some alliance PuG-grps and got fg-fights, (fun) fg+fights and big keepsieges you could swing by or be apart of from the start.

this are just what i'm hoping for, ofc there's a possibility for everthing being crap and you get instaRvR in HW but with a serverpop of 2.5k instead. hopefully that will not happen.

Capital cities+rvr zones clustered so there only one.

Other area's you can "port" between servers. So though there 2 of each there nothing to stop the excal people all coming over to our toa zone for artifact mobs

Funny that people still don't understand how this works...Makes you wonder how clueless about the issue people who voted yes were..TOA is not clustered, which means there will be two TOA zones, HOWEVER people from BOTH servers can go into EACH zone..

Edit: Fu corren, beating me to it!

Clustering (by Mythic's definition) is the merging of previously 2 instances into a single instance. There will only be one NF instance (zone) and only one capital instance for both servers. The other zones will be seperate but accessible by all players from both servers (ie a hib from excal can access the housing instance (zone) from hib prydwen).

On the subject: I think the active RvR population has decerased dramatically (on excal there were times when population peaked at 3k or even more). After clustering we will probably have an average of 2k and about 2.5k at peak hours, which imo is not too much. Of course there will be a lot of people in RvR the first couple of days but this will settle down after a while. Also the comparison with the US classic servers is not very accurate since these servers have a much higher RvR population (relative to the overall population) than Excaliwen.
And let's face it: the life cycle of DAoC is in a mature phase and it's more likely that in the future more players quit rather than new/old players start playing the game (again).

The only disadvantage I see is that english players are now limited to one "server". In the past you could log on to prydwen or excalibur if you didn't like the situation on your main server. After clustering you can still switch realms (with a 1 hour cool-down) but you will still have the same RvR situation due to the single NF instance.

All in all the advantages prevail.

+ more people out to fight
+ hopefully a bit more spread out rvr ( Although I have my doubts )
+ clustering getting many retired players back in action again
+ hopefully better for new players to form grps and meet others
+ being able to kill people you usually play with .. mwhaha xD

- playing along with hib/exca wankers :<
- megazergs in Outlaw/Zoyster style
- waiting one hour to log onto another realm. I agree there should be a cooldown timer when swapping realms but 1 hour is too much IMO.

There are a lot of nice people on Hib/excal, granted there are more wankers than on hib/prydwen. Also there's more egos and leaders who cant actually lead :)

Economy there is fooked though, GOLM for 20-30plat. Just bought one on alb/prydwen for 2plat
