Uploading to YouTube

Hello chums

Im trying to upload some .avi files to YouTube, thing is they are pretty big for such a tiny bit of video, 38mb for a tiny one, how do people do this? I'm at work and we have a pony internet connection anyway, it's taking AGES!

Is there any way around this?

Save video, now same quality 1/10th the size, profit.

how do people do this?

Because they're too daft to know what else to do and Youtube handles things automatically like upload resume.
