Indeed :) N.B. That the 300k service will increase to 1Mbps but the bandwidth cap will reduce from 30GB to 3GB per month. I'm not sure how rigidly ntl enforce these things, though.

Other than that the upgrades look like a good deal, especially now the £25 service charge idea was dropped, and the other two speeds will still have a reasonable 1GB per day cap.

Kind Regards

People with a settop box (like moi) will have to phone them up on 0800 052 2000 and speak to customer services to get the upgrade.

6 hours a day what an outrage!

if you work 8 hours a day and sleep 8 hours a day that leaves 2 hours where you have to do something else other than play online computer games! Well, I am disgusted!

Ballarks!

As I have a settop box (and its an old cheapy one), its limited to 1Mb/s. So, now they have to send an engineer out and fit me a new box.

Buggeration. Oh well, at least I get rid of the steam powered POS telly box that crashes regularly and whose menus are slower than a Hyundai Getz. Trouble is, I have to wait until the 4th April to get it.

Thats were the 6 hours online gaming comes it. Just estamating your useage so you can look and see if you match up.

Metered stuff isn't being enforced yet tho, They watch peeps and ask those that exceed often to look at other packages.

P.S. better aviod that babe of the day post, 100 meg can disapear fast off ya daily limit on a few pages there ;)

It's not a limit on it though, if all you do is gaming and the occasional surfing then it's not a problem. If you spend your time downloading huge porn films or warez, then it's a problem.

Got an email from Pipex saying "we're upping you from 1 mbit to 2 mbit for free", obviously in response to BTO.

No ETA on those yet though, anytime between now and August is the official line. You can however pay a reduced rate £15 regrade fee and get it done in about 7 working days.

We do things differently in Bucharest...

I pay about 7 pounds per month for a 2 mbit line, that I share with 20 other people. These networks are and have been the trend for internet access since 1998, because you end up having a better bandwith for a extremely low cost due to sharing. Things have been pushed further, and many small networks have joined together, creating larger networks, where you have the possibility of switching ISPs and whatnot.

Don't go thinking 256KB / 20 = 12.8KB each. The users are not using the bandwith 24/7, and I actually haven't felt restrained, with a few rare exceptions. I can download, play online games, do whatever I can possibly do. Guess i'm a tad lucky for having kids in my network, they go to sleep early, and only play CS and shit all day :)
