My ageing Athalon XP 2400+ , its 1GB of ram and Sparkle Geforce FX5200 128mb are in need of upgradeage.
Now as slow as that system may seem i can still play farcry or company of heroes with the options down.
But im thinking ahead, now my budget is tight so i dont wanna go the whole hog of getting a new mobo. my old Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe will do fine for now, i do however have the limitiation of using AGP rather than PCI-E.
I was thinking of a cheap but-still-better-than mine gfx card. something like this or this.
what do you guys think?
I will proboly whack the full 3GB of ram my pc can take, at least two bits the same make and speed tho for duel channel.
Is there anywere were i can still get the old XP processers or Athalon 64s? as my mobo can apparantly take them, and if i did upgrade to a 64 bit processer will i really notice a difference?
Wow with all this i really should upgrade the whole box, but im a student and poor, the upgrades will proboly be a gradual process over a few months.
....im going to need some more fans.
snfunny, when i got this PC (well if you can really say its the same pc) it was a P2 300 MMX (omg!), with 16 or 32MB of ram, a 4MB Nvidia riva 128 Nvidias first foray into the world of gfx cards (utter legend of a card that ran quake 3 and is STILL going strong in my dads pc), and a stonking 3GB hard drive. And now not a single part of its original form remains and there are pen drives bigger than my first hard drive and my phones with faster processers.....does not seem like that long ago either :S
