Update...

An NTL engineer came today, luckily I was at home as I had to go to a funeral.
He confirmed the signal to the house was losing strength.
Signal was +4 at the box at the end of the street but -18 coming into my house, looks like we shall need a complete rewire....damn.
We had to leave before he finished his visit so he is coming back Wednesday afternoon (hopefully) to complete the full diagnostics.

Interestingly, when I asked him if they have had much trouble with cable modems, he replied "bloody loads m8"...lol.

Oh the joys of being one of the first....lol

Ill update as further things happen.

An engineer from N.T.L. was booked to come today.
My wife took the day off work to wait for him.

Did he come ?........did he f$%k !!!!!

This is the forth time we have been let down by an engineer not turning up.

I havnt even had a response from oftel, they promised to come back to me within 2 days.

Anybody got some semtex for sale ??

They now say I have a faulty node in my street.

Anybody know what a node is and what does it do ???

A node is where a big phat cable is split into likkle ones.

At work I've finally got cable TV installed by NTL. They are 7 days short of being 1 year late since the order

Well, they have worked o0n the node (3 days) and they did a pull through and changed all of the cabling to the house.
The signal is a bit better and now my cable modem has been up for 24 hours.....woo hoo.
Hopefully it will stay up.
