Hi Folks,

The demo is nearly ready to go. It should be out sometime within the next few days. Keep watching this space (the stickies) for an announcement. When it's ready we'll just be releasing it randomly to a few major sites so that hopefully it will spread like wildfire and everyone will be able to get it from their favorite games site. There won't be any special exclusives or anything like that. We want everyone to be enjoying it the minute it goes live.

Mirror Servers Hosting Files

Could someone please nudge the Admins of Barrysworld so that we get the file mirrored here on release ... see this , posted by Pezman, for details.

And in the style of 'Summo' ... here it is to save people some clicking ...
Own A Server? Become a Demo Mirror! Apply Inside
Webmasters,

We are looking to begin compiling a list of major websites that can help mirror the demo release. Although we do not have a set Date / Time we are looking to begin gathering information on who can assist in the demo release. We are asking website that can through a sizable amount of bandwidth at the demo distribution to send in information.

Please only serious offers should submit. We are hoping to gather a rather sizable list so that gamers worldwide can get the demo with ease.

What you need to know: We do not know the day or time yet, thus we are just preparing. Only serious offers need apply. We are looking at approx 100 megs of demo meat here. We can't offer anyone exclusive downloads, nor do you really get much of any prize other then a loaded servers happily downloading the demo. Incase you are new to this you don't HAVE to apply to be a mirror, we are just trying to get an idea of who can help.

What we need from you:
Email: Kyle Peschel (kpeschel@us.infogrames.com) the following information

1) The site you are representing. (URL to site)
2) Your servers available bandwidth. (just because your host is T3 doesn't mean you can serve out 45MB/s from your box) Available Connections to your FTP is a great detail to have as well
3) Your Name
4) Your Position at the site
5) Your Contact Info (we only want webmasters of these sites to apply, signing your favorite website up for this isn't a great or unique idea)

Again only serious offers need apply. We don't want to fold your fansite as you suddenly serve a few 100 gigs in a day

So, get on the case Barrysworld and lets get it mirrored!

Barrysworld will have to ask them though ... we can't rely on them asking Barrysworld so hopefully they'll get things in order in plenty of time.
Mark Rein seems to think that it'll be out sometime before the end of this weekend coming ... we live in hope!

uh, but the BW ftp is only available uncapped to subscribers, everyone else gets a whopping 8KBps (I think that's the speed), I imagine they'll mirror it for subscribers, but 8kbps is hardly gonna entice Infogrames.

Might be nice if BW bothered to mirror it for subscribers...found one release on a bw hosted site(beyond unreal i think) and thats permanently overloaded or simply not working...i aint sure which.

One good advantage of paying this sub fee would be quick access to new files like this as soon as theyre released rather than having to put up with the usual queues....Just an idea.

Btw feel free to ignore me if it is all ready up but i certainly aint been able to find it on the ftp(or indeed any mention of its release on the news page)

Why am I paying £24 for an uncapped ftp server when u dont mirror the biggest release in an otherwise (imho) dull gaming year

Take note if your service continues like this i will not be around to shell out any more cash this time next year

Alas most are either overloaded or simply dont work. Im currently downloading from my isps mirror(blueyonder) but even that one keeps stopping sending after 30 meg(tried about 10 times to dl it so far)

But what are EPIC playing at with the master servers? This popped up in ASE's MOTD window this morning:

UT 2003 demo = no go. Looks like epic has gone from public masters to private, and to add insult to injury they seem to have explicitly banned all our IPs, so even if the serverlist wasn't encrypted we wouldn't have access to it.

Grr, when will games companies realise we don't all want to use their (often slow) in-game server browsers?

I hope EPIC sort this out before release :/

TBH I'm not a great fan of deathmatch since I discovered TFC but that demo is really just a slighty higher res version of UT nothing groundbreaking.
