Unlocking a locked HTC Hero (nath?)

I would like to try some experimental stuff with my HTC Hero, but it is SIM locked to Orange. I'd prefer to be able to put anything in it, so any advice on going about getting it unlocked? Rooting it hasn't unlocked it.

Hold on G, aren't you out of the contract term with Orange now? Phone them up, they legally have to provide you with the unlock code for free.
