unknown prob on new build

Building 4 pcs same spec except 2 have 2x9800xt and 2 have 9600se cards.

slight cockup w/ order, only 1 550w psu and 1 400w psu, wnated 2x550 for the higher spec ones.

So this is the 2nd 9800xt but only a 400w supply ( possibly cause? )

Anywaaaay.

Built one of each, 3rd machine is a beach though.


First up cpu pins were bent out of packaging, nps just return it and use last cpu in this one.

All built etc. boots up, gets to detecting cpu and detects it then nothing after, no beeps etc.


mobo is abit IC7G 2xcorsair pc4000 ram, 160wd sata hdds etc.


any ideas?

getting video output ok.

Bios config comes up but doesnt list any devices and doesnt go further, cant press del and get into bios.

Which processors are you fitting? A full parts list would be handy here, manufacturers included.

Sounds stupid, but I've had a keyboard blow up on me between reboots, confuses the crap out of things.

Try a PS2 keyboard if you're using USB, tis a common problem.

400w psu ( dont remember the make )
2x512mb corsair pc4000 dual channel ddr
asus radeon 9800xt
western digital 160gb sata hdd
sony 8x dvdrw
floppy drive ( i didnt want to bother but company wants em ).



keyboard is ok. ( ps2 and lights on it )

when i switch it on from cold everything powers up but nothing, on reboot it gets to the point where I'm at ( same issue, just more detailed description ).

Any ideas?

Doubt it's PSU, I'm running an AXP + 9800 Pro on a 300W ...

would a duff hard drive cause this? ( never had one arrive DOA before ).

Can probably rule out PSU, mobo, and gfx card prob. Bit stumped.
