Ok so ive FINALLY decided after atleast 1 1/2 years of what I want to do at UNI. Atm, im halfway through my year out just working, and basically buming around.

My future intentions are to teach primary school children. My first instint is to teach nursery level.. so we are looking at ages 3-5 ?.

I have been checking the UCAS site and have registered an account etc, but were my problem is, is that there are roughly 20 different primary school teaching courses within these two course headings, if you know what i mean

Primary
Primary Education

So this causes alot of confusion, so my questions are; is anyone in the same boat, or has been and what course did you choose. Does anyone know what area of Primary teaching i need to head for. I mean what are the differences in :

Education - Primary (X120)
Early Primary Education (Teacher Training) (X123)
Primary (X120)
Education Studies and The Early Years (XL30)
Early Years (X310)

(these are the first 5 i chose, and the rest have different names or so lol)

does it require a degree? seems like a great cost for something quite vocational.

Ive no idea. I have an AVCE in leisure and recreation which is equivilent to 2Alevels, so i have basically got a CC. I was hoping I would be able to get on a teaching course with this. Surely there are foundation courses if you cant get on to an actual one without a degree?

Im no longer at college, I wonder if you can just go back in and get advice though

Can the job centre help with career advice and courses etc? might be worth a look if your in England.

It would be worth ringing up college to check jim. Or failing that, don't tell then you've left just ring and ask if you can go in for a chat!

i thought you need to do a degree and then a post grad teaching certificate?

you need to look at the actual course, see what the award is rather than just the title, name and course code
find it on the ucas site and read the info they provide, if theres none on UCAs which i found last year happened a lot, then go to the uni/college's website via the link on the ucas page and then find the course and it'll have a whole page devoted to the course, and you have to look at the type of stuff you will be doing, and then pro's and con's tally imo how i did it, you get lots of courses similar and at different uni's but the modules on the same course could bore you whereas the same award and degree (if it is one) at another uni/college could be amazing. dont ask people what they think is better etc, you have to decide yourself as its your own interests
