Hehe, watching BBC News and they have just mentioned the powers that the Democrats have and the last words were "and investigations"

I'm not interested in the tit for tat litigious shitshow at all.

I want to see what legislation they try to make.

And Trump Vetoes.
Yep.

They will, of course, play politics for optics on that.

Propose very populist legislation that's crazy, that they'd never expect to pass in power but gets massive popular buy-in, Trump vetoes, they give the republicans a kicking (not Trump - he's off, one eye on the next election and all that).

That's still quite a few Republicans who'd need to break ranks.

I wouldn't be surprised if some did, Republicans are fuming over the battering they just took, they'd throw trumps under the bus if the opportunity came along i'm sure.

I know we're all celebrating the slap that Trump's just taken, but to bring it back into perspective:

it's a big swing, but not massive. It'll likely turn out about the same as what happened last time that Trump was in power, but nowhere near as much as the 63 seat mid term swing that Obama got slapped with in 2010 which was at the time the largest house swing in about 60-odd years.

So whilst absolutely bruising, I don't think Republicans are going to break that much of a sweat. They've been in this position very recently. Certainly they'll have one eye on their jobs too - and want to beat the Dems in the next election.

I'm expecting a few Rs to basically come out and say "Oh we weren't MAGA, that wasn't us, we were being XYZ" and now start voting inline with Dems - Especially if they want a political career moving forward.

SNAP and a few other things I expect to see come back up sooner than later.

Captain Fuckwit McWar will be gone soon I'm guessing too, cheeto needs a scapegoat. But it does leave Miller.

I hope if Dems want to take the triad in 2028 they focus on the lives of the average Joe. If he VETOs it will surely fuck the rest of the republicans over .

Hey @Yoni :) How have you been?

I think they have to be careful. 2008 financial crash was the ultimate driver, but much of the big swing against Obama was in many ways related to Obamacare. Admittedly, neither side could realistically appeal the best parts of that nowadays, but campaigning for big ticket costly "government overreach" items is a minefield as is being the "do nothing but culturally interfere" party.

Like I've said - popcorn is out. Lets see what they do. Although to be fair, it'll be about 18 months before it gets really interesting.

The funny thing is, this might be the bullet in the back of the head for the republicans, more so than the election result itself. Trump will spend the next couple of years vetoing everything, the country won't function, which will damage the economy, democracy and the economy are what people care about.

That will help republicans though since they are often campaigning on the whole “government doesn’t work” schtick. Even though it’s themselves causing the problems
