The choice to isolate them is normally for the good of the individuals.

When the advanced world started interacting with tribes, many died off, because although we have advanced evolution in terms of technology etc, we also have disease and illness unknown to them.

Basically, their immune systems can't fight it as well as us.

I understand the whole Diease and Illness argument, but surely we should give them the choice. If we go out of our way to keep them Isolated it just ends up being some big huge social anthropology experiment.

I think it is amazing to know that there are still people living like those, human beings still so primitive and uneducated.

Facinating.

I have no idea about if they should be tried integrated into our society or left alone by all means, so many conflicting feelings about that, but still extremely facinating.

I wouldn't say they were less educated, these people know the Jungle better than anyone. They know what you can eat, what eats you, what plants can be used for shelter building, medicine. All kind's of things. Imagine some of the unique skills these people have developed and trained in.

Sure they might not be able to using pythagrian theory but shit stick them in the jungle and i'd pick one of them over an educated westerner anyday.

Aye, and why would we want them to integrate with modern society? Sometimes I wonder if it wouldn't be better to live like these people.

Still, truly fascinating.

how can we be sure their uncontacted unless some1 contacted them to ask if they had been contacted, in which case they would have been contacted by the person asking !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And ofc there's always the argument that being introduced into the modern world doesn't bring happiness. If they're happy, leave em - then again, how can we measure happiness without contacting them, and what counts as happiness in their world? Circular arguments.

I agree though, fascinating :D

Few things i toldmy bro:

- Look a dragon!!! at the surveillance plane.
- Prime directive in Star Trek ain't fiction, it's the way it's gonna go.
- We don't need to find alien species on other worlds, we got them here.

What he said,

They don't need our help, they have managed to survive for however many thousand years without booze, gay marriage and celebrity culture. I am sure they can manage another couple of thousand years.

from cnn article
Survival International said the Indians are in danger from illegal logging in Peru, which is driving tribes over the border and could lead to conflict with the estimated 500 uncontacted Indians now living on the Brazilian side.
There are more than 100 uncontacted tribes worldwide, most of them in Brazil and Peru, the group said in a statement.

So they should be left alone, but they do need help so they don't have a war and wipe each other out. Although I'm sure it would boost the ratings on ECA's reality show.

I think its completely ethical, our worlds changed so rapidly with eco-systems being destroyed, why add to that and change a untouched culture. Look what american's did to native americans.

It's obvious to say "leave them alone" but i'm not sure it's that simple..

In getting resources then we are gradually reducing their borders, so what happens when they start to get close to those borders. Do we try to stop them from discovering us artifically? Do we observe them to ensure that they won't accidentally stumble across us? If a natural disaster happens in the area, what do we do then?

They've already seen one of our planes, so we can't say that they are uncontacted really anymore either.. I agree that taking them and dropping them in new york would be spectacularly unsuccessful tho.

Better to contact them properly imo. It's inevitable that they will meet outsiders at some point, so might as well do it gently.

You think our societies are good at keeping peace?

They seem to be doing just fine on their own. Its remarkable that there's folks out there totally unconnected with the outside world, possibly thinking their own tiny corner is the entirety of what is.

Fascinating...

It's quite easy to draw a parallell to our little planet Earth, and that there might be other big alien civilizations out there in the universe looking down at us, just like we look at these tribespeople, and wondering whether they could contact us or not. Perhaps they are having this exact conversation, worrying that their own civilization will soon eat away at human borders etc etc...

... that makes me wonder then - would we want to be contacted by a civilization far far more advanced than ours, but that was cursed with eating away solar system after solar system, planet after planet, leaving dark, dead husks?

Comments like this always make me wonder. Is it really such a nice existance..

It's easy to sit in your centrally heated house eating your microwaved ready meal and look at it as a cool existance. If your in the middle of a jungle surrounded by things that want to eat you, with the chances of you seeing 40 being fairly slim and having to go hunt for tonights dinner in the pissing rain would it seem as attractive?
I'm fairly sure that they have days that are great, chilling out by the river without a mortgage to worry about.. It's just so different to the way we live that it's hard to say one is better than the other however. The only thing you really can say is that going from one to the other is probably very very difficult.
