Guys,

Stuck on this one. im recovering files for someone and copying all their documents (mainly songs and pictures) from Windows Vista onto a memory stick before I reformat their hard drive.

Ive got all the files together in on folder and copying to the stick - everything LOOKS to be going ok.

However, when the copy is done - i am unable to view SOME of the files on the memory stick. they just dont seem to be there. Other files are there and can be viewed.

the memory stick also seems to show that everything is copied (available space)

Is there a restriction on permissions within Vista?

Can check that by taking ownership of the root folder giving your user admin rights and applying it to child folders. Also make sure they are not tagged as hidden and or protected os files.

nope - still not playing. going to take the drive out of the machine and link it into mine (Windows 7) and see if I can copy from there.

Is it a dodgy Chinese drive that says it's 16GB but is really 4GB? :)
