A couple of things try and avoid one with windows 7 starter as I would imagine the application limit will start to get on your nerves. And i still think the biggest problem with a netbook is the keyboard so if it will be used for a lot of typing with home work ect i do not rate them really. I have never tred the samsung though so it may have a better keyboard.

I've wanted one for ages, trouble is I want the one with the built in HSPDA so I can use it anywhere without a stupid dongle sticking out of the side (which I feel is the whole point). The NC10 is generally rated the best of the bunch for the current group of netbooks. If you do purchase however, make sure it comes with the larger battery or most of the benefits will disappear into thin air.

Thanks all so far -he is going to save up xmas and birthday money to splurge on this, and it is alot of cash for him so I really don't want him getting a bum deal - keep the input coming!

Check this graph from Reg Hardware (it's for another netbook, but has the graphs of all their compared netbooks).

I've never used the NC-10, although from what I've heard it's a decent netbook with a good battery life. You can probably get longer lasting ones, although they'll probably cost a bit more.

Very very shiny, liking it alot - so light, it's perfect for my travels.

My New Toy | Spedge.com is my blog, and I talk about it a bit there. Not used it substantially yet, but first impressions are good - especially the keyboard which I find a delight to type on.
