John Leslie was a womaniser, but theres a huge difference between that and a rapist.

Unless of course he did rape her.

The press have known who it is for ages. They were waiting and provoking other associates of Leslie to make the first move, otherwise they'd be in libel up to their necks.

You're only guilty of Libel if what you say is untrue.

Nope, burden of proof is on the plaintiff :)

I do have a tiny suspicion that perhaps she has made up this rape claim in order to sell her book...

And thats why she refuses to tell who did it...

Women do sometimes make up rape claims, its a sad truth, but I do find it a bit odd that days before this story was made public, another woman made charges of sexual assault against him, and then asked for them to be dropped. She wasn't some dipsy fan either, but an upcoming tv presenter from a cable channel. And it wasn't riding on the back of Ulrikas allegation, because it was reported before that was made, and it was reported to the police straight after the incident, not to Max Clifford or anyone.

It just seems theres a fair bit of smoke, but I know that doesn't necessarily mean theres a fire.

The most damaging thing about this is the fact that the majority of rape victims don't press charges and this debacle just gives creedence to their fears. Most of the time it is one persons word against the other and while this makes it prime for hoaxers it also prevents most from speaking up due to the victim "being unable to prove it." the fact that a great many victims were having sexual relations with the rapist makes proving it much harder. I don't see what good bringing this to light has done, the only measure mentioned (at least to me) was the ridiculous one where the alleged rapist is presumed guilty and the burden of proof is on the 'guilty' rather than the prosecutor. Rape really is too important/emotive/serious issue for people to ridicule it by making a quick buck from it.

p.s I'm supposed to be happy, I'm off work for the weekend and I';m going down to cambridge to have a large pissup. :(

This subject always manages to get my gander up(which means makes me angry before anyone starts :p )

I think a lot of you are missing the point that Ulrika is actually a complete slapper.

so?

It doesn't make it ok for someone to rape her if he actually did.

You wouldn't turn her down, though

Not with your mate!

She looks like the alien who visits the white house in "Mars Attacks" these days.
