UK law on keeping a pet monkey?

Been thinking about getting a pet monkey just wondering if anyone knows if its illegal or legal in the UK?

No it's not legal I'm afraid. Besides they are VERY high maintenance animals and the medical support they need is specialised and very expensive. Get a chinchilla, loads more fun

No, because not only does google come up with xx answers it also comes up with alot of conflicting bullsh*t that ends up confusing.

Heh, I only wanted a monkey so I could teach it to farm money for me in warhammer while I was asleep.. I planned on keeping it in a cold, dark, horrible hut in my back garden and whipping it until it did my bidding.... nah just kidding just fancied a pet what I could have a good laugh with.

Lol at the afk pet idea (maybe by a child off ebay?? - only j/k before someone shouts at me!).

Monkeys are nice when they're in a playful mood, unfortunately that isn't very often, they're mostly cantankerous buggers. I've never had a chinchilla but a few of my friends have, they're bloody awesome watching them bounce around the room.

rofl dont do it lol just read a book by Gerrald Durrall where he reminisces (ergh sp?) about his past pets, one time he thought a bush baby would be a great pet, theyre so small and cute...

the thing peed everywhere, split his eyelid open with a claw like a samurai toothpick and wouldnt stop screaming all night long lol.

get a guinea pig matey, they make excellent pets and are really easy to care for (giant african land snails are even easier tbh if your really lazy) and there are loads needing loving homes because people get them then cba to look after them.

hay people keep goldfish right? well snails are just like fish but you dont have the arseache every month of changing a tank of water.

also they poo orange when you feed them carrot and that my freind is entertainment, its like watching the red arrows (only slower) doing the coloured smoke display.

I hate those stupid giant african land snails my friend has one and she walks around the house with "Hertbert" attached to her bare arm. I want a sugar glider when I get my own place, so much fun to play with and they get so attached with their owners.

you can't actually get more attached than that unless you get a pet hookworm but thats just nawsty.

oh and p.s. my snails also poo dark green when they eat cabbage and i have just discovered feeding them strawberries has absolutely no effect, i was hoping to be able to get them to do a slow motion (lol motion geddit??) recreation of the battle of britain using red and orange smoke..poo but alas my plans have come to nothing


i wonder what would happen if i fed them blueberries, ooh or aubergene!...hmmm
