Didn't watch it but I could have predicted both that the UK would suck and that all the music would suck.

They should let Simon Cowell take over for the UK entry next year, pehaps he can turn it into a bigger farce than it already is.

I really enjoyed it this year. The UK entry was terrible though, someone should have told Lloyd Webber that it was a pop competition not a musical.

Simon Cowell wouldn't touch it with a barge pole. Britain will lose year after year regardless of their entry and so Cowell would see it bad for his reputation.

5th is hardly a fail, it's pretty good. Only just pipped to 4th by Turkey too.

But this year was a bit of a let down. Some camp humour, but no really wacky terrible stuff. Boo!

Not regardless of their entry, if the sent a decent song sometime they would win. I think UK has most wins in the history or something like that so ?
It's just that last 10 years they have sent really shit songs :)

Edit: 5th place is good, personally i didn't think it deserved it to be that high, such an awfully boring song :p

You couldn't be wrong if you tried.

For a start Ireland has won the most, prompting a humerous episode of father Ted if you remember.
And the past 7 years has been all about politics rather than the actual song itself, Europe hates the UK because we won't join or listen to them. It all started after the war in Iraq kicked off so what does that tell you.

All we need is another war where we the rest of europe are all beaten and bruised, then we turn up and kick some arse. Then we'll have another few years of winning the Eurovision!

Zombies? I guess you could grow some Sunflowers so you can get enough sun to grow an army of Pea Shooters, seems to work in Plants Vs Zombies ;o We're pretty good at gardening right? Alan Titchmarsh, Charlie Dimmock, all them could be our warlords!

Not all politics, ofc the winners have always have lots of neighbor votes etc. But a good song can still score some points (where was the politics in Lordi win?!? ;) ).

I mean ..

Watched cause my GF likes it but was good to see much less political voting, there is still some amoung the smaller countries voting for eachother. Which means we may win one year, but we don't take it seriously and Europe know we don't. Didn't expect to finish 5th which is better than most years.

The strange swimming thing was brillant, would love to see that live.

Crikey. That was bad!

They should get Timbaland to sort the Eurovision out next year. All of his songs & collaborations always do well, although I'm not sure if his music would be 'right.'

The Lordi win was the biggest farce of all time. Nobody actually liked the "song" if it can be called that, they just wanted to be seen voting for the act that caused the biggest media fuss.

Yes Scooch was wank but no more wank or cheesy than the rest of the music.

Somebody mentioned earllier that it was a pop music contest but I'm pretty sure it was meant to be a contest that represented a nations musical culture.

Lordi song was liked by people since it won. You can win if you have a good enough song. Sure you get tons of help with politics involved. But a good song can still win, and this year it was the first half decent song UK sent in recent years.

And yes, Scooch was more wank than the rest!

(i rate the songs here on Eurovision standards, not music that i would actually listen to normally.)

Yes, but somehow it evolved in to more pop when all countries was allowed to sing in whatever language they want :p

This is my favorite this year:

YouTube - H.E.A.T - 1000 Miles / Melodifestivalen 2009 [16:9 HQ]

They didn't make it to the final tho :( Brings back memories! :D
