Unfortunately it is a problem, because country != religion. If it *was* a problem that is.

This song is being played before the matches for 85 years and so far, nobody gave a f*ck. Even muslim football fans (and Schalke04 has a lot of them) sing it. They said that the outcry of those offended muslims is just a cry for media attention. However, the stadion is now under special police protection, because some extreme muslim fractions already announced attacks.

There are muslim Germans, there are foreigners living here etc.

It's true that country != religion, but if the country doesn't enforce rules of religion(in this case "bashing" islam), there's really no point in crying about it. While there isn't rules about having a right to bash religion, i dno't think there's real rules about making jokes about religion either. In an islam country, there actually might be rules and as such, if i went there, i wouldn't start with "God, Jehova and Mohammed walked into a bar..." due to getting spanked for it.

Fair. The UK has that problem at the moment with the more vocal elements of the muslim community. I have to say too, based on personal experience most of the practicising muslims i've met have been pretty pushy about "their beliefs" even in a public space in the UK (not all of them, but the majority)

Sikhs, Hindu's and Buddhists - not an issue. Never met a pushy Buddhist actually - they genuinely aren't fussed!

I suspect it lies equally in the mindset of the individual and the religion though. Kind of like how certain sports attract a certain mindset, or certain cars attract a certain type of driver based on the car. Not every bloke driving a bright red top of the range ferarri is a pretentious wanker driving a penis with a steering wheel, but the majority...Yup.

Or also kind of like how people discussing religious beliefs on an internet forum are generally nerds! After all, you don't put up a poll on the use of CPU types in "gardeners weekly" do you?

If I go to a scandanavian country and someone in a shop is being a cock because I can't speak his language, he can go fuck himself. When you deal with tourists, you as the host country are expected to treat them with courtesy, after all their custom keeps people in business.

I do expect tourists to make an effort, have a smalll book on basic lines/sentences/questions to ask and make an effort when you are there. I certainly don't expect anyone I meet from a foreign country to come across here and speak fully in my native language, unfortunately for us our history has caused us to be ignorant, It's always more difficult at school over here you get french, german, spanish, but taking one over the other takes away advantages.

Would you expect your local shopkeep to whip out a finnish handbook, or a russian one, if the customer isn't up to par with english?
