Tickets onsale saturday. If I spot an early booking code ( ufc fan club type thingy ) I'll post.

Anyone going?

I'm sooo tempted but transport might be a pain in the arse, the card looks amazing though.

Gonzaga vs Werdum ( this should be omfg incredible but maybe shit to watch live given its the current open weight BJJ champ vs werdum ).

Also BJ Penn vs Joe Stevenson for the interim title while Sherk is out.

The rest of the card isnt confirmed but imo these two bouts alone make it worth the ticket.

I got a front row seat last time ( £250 ) and it was worth every penny, if you want to go I'd recommend getting an awesome ticket.

No, its two people each on a chariot, flicking elastic bands until one gives up.

Its mixed martial arts, thin gloves with open fingers for grappling are used (mostly to protect the striker from broken bones in the hand). You can do pretty much what you want except you arent allowed to hit people in the groin, throat or eyes (and ofc no biting/scratching etc) and no small-joint manipulation (i.e. no breaking of fingers etc). You also cannot knee someone that has one more more knees on the ground themselves.

Most fighters train in brazilian jiujitsu and kickboxing or thaiboxing, some train wrestling or judo. Matches are 3x5 min (or 5x5 min for title matches) and end in a submission, knockout, stoppage (if one fighter can not defend himself effectively) or judges decision of it goes the time (winner of a round gets 10 points, loser gets 9 or less - based on agression, control and effective strikes and takedowns).

There have been no serious injuries so far (although who knows what the longterm effects on fighters will be), even though fighters frequently break an arm or hand and get "cut" (eyebrows open up etc). Matches are often bloody due to cuts from elbowstrikes etc. Fighters are tested regularely for use of forbidden substances and the sport seems to be relatively clean so far (couple of fighters have been caught over the last few years).
