Dont know if any of you dudes / dudettes are interested - seen a few of ya talking about it before etc, but UFC 75 is at the O2 arena London and tickets went on sale today.

Got mine, cant fucking wait - Rampage against Dan Henderson for the first unification bout for the LHW titles from UFC and Pride - history in the making and I am gonna be there :)

Cro Cop and Bisping also on the card - should be a great night of le combat for anyone interested :)

I'd love to goto an event like the UFC, unfortunately, the prices of the tickets are too extreme (for a decent seat) Bisping is an all time favourite of mine and has been since I seen him fight in Cage Rage. Brilliant fighter.

The card does look like it's going to kick ass for UFC 75 though. :(

Tickets I think start about £25 - like you say they wont be great but the big screens they will throw up will no doubt catch the action replays etc just fine whilst you get to see the fight live in teh cage first - though how good it will be I dunno - never been O2, Cage Rage seats are mint for £50 I have found in the past, but I reckon £100 should be decent for UFC - the £150 tickets seem to be in the same blocks etc so me and the lads have gone for £100 ones as for £50 more you probably might only be a couple of rows further in - though there is also a £10 booking fee per ticket regardelss as well :(

Just watched the end of UFC 72, then the After the Bell show from UFC 71 - ran through highlights of Chuck n Rampage etc - even more excited now...probably throw a right hander or choke the missus out whilst dreaming of taking on Fedor in meh sleep in a bit :(

I am tempted, but £100 is too much. Looking at the seating plan you would be better off in the upper teir than the £100 tickets.

I would rather be closer than higher up to be honest - just because even the lower tier seats will still be higher than the cage so its gonna be great trying to catch whoever's head Cro Cop tries to kick off :)

Admittedly I have not been to the o2 areana, andI have not seen ufc live. I have been to quite a few wrestling shows and the lower tiers and ring side seats do not always give you the best view -they often aren't actually tiered. I always find it's better being higher up being able to look down on the ring and being able to see the big screens clearly.

I fail to see the attraction in UFC :(

Just like boxing, except instead of boxing its what you get on a Saturday night out in your local city centre :p

Well Ufc is mixed martial arts, so yes a few fighters will try and stand up and win with their fists, however due to the nature of the sports you have to be well versed in other fighting styles to stand a chance.

Watch some highlight reels, I have seen 5 foot tall guys beating 6 foot plus guys with intelligent fighting. I think boxing is boring and 1 dimensional, not so much at the lower weights cause they like to fight. But at Heavy weight the fuckers are just to fat and scared, so they just pick up their cheques and throw a few punches.

Anyway Ufc rocks :)

Ill have a look then, Im a huge fan of submission based wrestling(like Kurt Angle, Brock Lesnar, Ken Shamrock and Chris Benoit) though it hink Brock and Ken are both doing MMA now

Ken Shamrock is way passed it tbh, he gets battered constantly and is talking about coming out or retirement for the 4th time or something :p

I love the submission stuff as well, thing I like the best is the attitude of the fighters they are pretty much all playing for one team and that is UFC, the size of the sport is growing Belts are changing hands constantly which is a good thing cause it keeps everyone on their toes. And finally because of the mix the favourite is always in danger of getting egg on his face if he has not taken a fight seriously.

Aye Ken is past it now sadly, UFC has progressed far beyond what it was when Ken was the top man. I don't watch it very often myself but it is certainly more agressive than boxing is these days and it feels alot less predictable.

Erm. Brock Lesnar a submission wrestler? You need to check your opinions before posting them :)

Back in is NCAA days he was :)

Then the WWE pushed him as a massive power wrestler :)

He was trained in the same style as Kurt Angle but his massive build made Vince cream his pants as he loves that sort of thing

I won't be going to this one, but the card looks fantastic, trip reports people who go please.

As posted previously, I got a £250 seat to the manchester UFC, and on reflection the upper tier seats will give you a better view. At the MEN imo I had one of the best seats available but it was pure luck, one row back and it would have been dire.

No it's good stunt work, not fighting. That's why it's sports entertainment. It is also sports entertainment, because if it was a real sport they would never get away with the massive drug use.

Yes most of them are - they are tested by the commision randomly after fights - in the UK and Japan you may find steroid abuse as they dont get tested but the UFC for sure - one of two have tested positive but not any of the big names (though Royce Gracie got busted recently but that was not in the UFC)

WWE is scripted stunt action, UFC is basically - boxing / jujitsu / wrestling / muay thai etc all combined into a pure MMA fight (MMA being Mixed Martial Arts). If you want to see any recent excellent fights - go and get hold of the latest UFC 72 - from Belfast, and watch Guida vs ...Tyson Griffin I think it was off the top of my head - have slept since... or the Ultimate Fight Night 10 - UFN 10 as its abbreviated on most sites to download - lots of very exciting fights and a couple that showcase the technical side of it all.

Dont be confused with the UFC of old where any fat fuck who could fight would get thrown in (from 96-98 approx) as todays UFC is full of pure trained athletes. Also check out Pride - the Japanese equivalent - or at least it was til the UFC recently bought it - no-one seems to know if its still going to be in existence now :(

If anyone wants anything explained - rules - good fights to watch - good fighters etc by all means drop me a PM as I love talking about this shit - love watching it even more :)

Brock Lesnar incidentally did pass a steroid test after his MMA debut recently as well - cut down to 265lb - his fight was shite though - he fought a dude who was brought in last minute as his original opponent couldnt get a license to fight in the US due to being a 7ft+ Korean with gigantism and some form of tumour I think it was on his growth glands - or some such medical shit...

Oh and Kurt will never fight MMA - his painkiller addiction and fucked up neck pretty much put paid to that, not counting he is really a one dimensional wrestler who would need a year or two of solid martial arts and boxing training to stand a chance against any 1/2 decent MMA fighter...

Oh one other thing - if you want a good free example of what could turn out to be a shitload of exciting fights - Bravo channel - 11pm this Sunday - its a Ultimate Fight Night (basically put on free in the States not PPV- showcases some of the up and comers etc) Jens Pulver v BJ Penn - 2 very very very good fighters (Well BJ is the shit, Jens has possibly seen his career peak - did hold a UFC title some years ago but his career has been up and down of late) and also a lot of lightweight fights after the UFC Ultimate Fighter show - 16 dudes in a house - 2 fight each week til the last 2 remain - winner gets a UFC contract (they dont fight in the house if thats how you just read it!!) and this Ultimate Fight Night also has the finale of that, as well as some other fights between some of the other people who were on the show but who didnt fight each other etc at that time so now are pitted against each other... and lightweights usually means very fast and technical fights - very explosive etc...

Dont miss it if you want a decent introduction into the future of combat sports - cos boxing has seen better days I fear.

~edit~

Jens Pulver and BJ Penn were the coaches on the show this season - Jens beat BJ in 2002 or 03 in a 5 round war, BJ wants revenge.

If you want more info - check out Wikipedia - it has stuff on the UFC, Jens, BJ etc as well.

Got my fingers crossed that, BJ destroys that rat, Pulver. I hate the guy with a passion. :(
This fight night should be good though, I remember, The Ultimate Fighter 4 Finale. Where Scott Smith swung and knocked out, Pete Sell. (After taking a brutal body shot) I was gobsmacked!

EDIT:

Rumours are circulating, that Ken Shamrock will be coming out of retirement and will be facing, Bisping in a future UFC event. If that's true, I could honestly say that it is suicide on Shamrocks part. He was a great fighter back in his day, but he's lost what he had many moons ago.

one of two have tested positive
One or two? Try one or two per event: its getting way out of hand lately.

Still its unlikely to change any time soon.

US penalties tend to be a 6 month suspension and a fine thats no more than a slap on the wrists.
For the UK events there isnt even any testing - currently folks banned in other parts of the world fight here while waiting for it to expire.

Maybe itll change in time: but given the complete lack of serious enforcement in other US sports I doubt it.

One or Two per event using roids in the UFC getting banned? Dont know where you get that from but the last person I can think of banned in the UFC was Stephan Bonnar and that was several events ago.....

The Shamrock thing seems to be bollocks as the word is, he has no interest in cutting to 205 again and is happy with the IFL - he would indeed be stupid to come back again, his last 2 fights against Tito showed how little he has left to offer ad Bisping would tool him the same....still I hope he does come back as I cant stand Shamrock..

Jens - I kinda couldnt make my mind up on him tbh if I liked him or not, but then read a little bit of what he went through as a child (Check out Wiki for the basic history) and due to that alone I at least have a lot of respect for the dude, but BJ is one of my favourites, Jens plans to leave the UFC after the fight as well, so I am rooting for BJ as I want to see him claim the LW belt, then the WW and MW belts...then move on and clean house at LHW, then try his hand at HW again :) BJ pwns...
