I tried to find out the e-mail address of the BW UBB admin, but (perhaps) wisely, they have kept it hidden.
I was somewhat disappointed that my thread on the Tribes forum, entitled "Tribesplayers.co.uk" was locked after a matter of days. Considering it is a community project, and I was simply asking for input from the community as to what they would like to see from this site.
Now, apparantly, such a thread was considered advertising, and was locked. However, what about all the people that have their clan/homepage URL's after their name? As a sig? is this also classed as advertising (by your rules it should be!).
But my point is this: The first post to my initial Tribesplayers.co.uk message was from someone who is affiliated with QuakeNation - telling me that I shouldn't be even considering running such a site, because there are 'better people' - I don't even know the guy! he certainly doesn't know me! - yet this opinion can be formed? how?
But, the biggest bug bear I have, is the fact that the admin then said that if I spammed this board, like I spammed the Webboard, he would remove me/my posts.
This immediately got my interest, you see, I have only ever posted to the old webboard twice in its existence. Once to tell everyone about the Starseige Launch Party at the Playing Fields, and again to clarify a point raised by a replier about the availability of free beer.
Do these two posts constitute spamming? I think not..
The fact is, that the BW UBB admin's have completely the wrong end of the stick. Guys, ever heard of 'Cranky' ?? Ever heard of his favourite hobby?? Its called "Log on under someone elses nick (possible under the old webboard) and spam the boards" - he did it on the Planet-Tribes.com UBB, and the Cloud boards at http://www.leo.ucg.ie/boards.

I've been playing Tribes since it appeared in the States. I *run* Planet-Tribes and the upcoming Tribesplayers.co.uk -- why would I want to cause problems eh? There is no reason, because I don't do it.
Closed minds gentlemen can be a dangerous thing.

See you on the servers!
